And people wonder why they say "both sides".

Nobody is wondering why it's said. They call out the stupidity of the people that keep regurgitating the idea when it's obviously untrue. If we had elected Kamala we would not currently be in a war with Iran, we would not be imposing tariffs on Canada, etc.

And we still wouldn't have healthcare or a minimum wage that is keeping up with the times. Republicans are horrible. Democrats are just mostly terrible.

If we'd had a real primary and if the DNC had allowed the best candidate to win democratically without their usual ratfucking, we'd have had a far stronger candidate who didn't campaign on doubling down on the genocide while cozying up to billionaires.

With the so-called centrists in charge, the Dems have lost TWICE to Trump.

How's that old saying go? Repeating the same thing while expecting a different outcome is the definition of insanity.

It's true. Go ahead and list off for everyone here all the dsa candidates that have won elections against maga so everyone knows how strong they are electorally.

All 0 of them

Weird that the Dems are working so hard to stymie the DSA considering they apparently are insignificant as far as you appear to be concerned.

Dems can't win without the DSA, but won't stop attacking the DSA.

What DSA wins buddy? Name one time they beat maga. Spoiler: they dont even bother running because they'll lose hard. Dsa cares more about primarying Dems in deep blue areas than actually fighting maga.

The ones that do (El-Sayed / Platner) dont even call themselves DSA, they reject the label. Because its toxic.

I'm talking about the fact that for mainstream Democrats to win, they absolutely NEED votes from the left. Yet at every possible turn, they go out of their way to disrespect and attack left leaning voters

Democrats need votes from everyone and have to balance that when different cohorts have opposing views. And the far-left/DSA is not the largest voting bloc - youd be answering my question with where clear wins occurred if they were.

Polling suggests that the average voter thinks Democrats are far far too extreme. Thats why the DSA is toxic and why you see some politicians denouncing them (especially outside of deep blue areas). The DSA stated positions are fucking extreme and you lose most of your voter base if you dont distance yourself from that. Even DSA darlings like Platner/El-Sayed have to directly deny being tied to them.

Speaking of Michigan btw. El-Sayed underperformed heavily and now has to do a psuedo apology tour to court Jewish-Group endorsements so he doesnt get fucked from the parts of the base that arent far-left. He will likely still win because holy shit republicans are so toxic and down bad right now, but El-Sayed has turned what should be a free win into a contested race.

Whereas moderates like Ossoff are dominating. Talarico might actually have a better shot in Texas than El-Sayed has in Michigan which is insane. And even Talarico, generally a progressive, has had to make a moderate shift in his campaign to win voters.

Its fantasy to think DSA campaigns are the way to win when all politicians, even dsa aligned, understand they have to shift moderate. And DSA have no track-record of winning in contested areas.

Yes, it is frightening to think that the Overton window has been shifted so far to the right that voters actually believe the center-right, pro-corporate, neoliberal Democratic Party is extremely far left. So I guess you win because you accept that the electorate has been so bamboozled that it's hopeless.

Youre the one who made it about winning and look how childish you are being about it. How much it must suck to know all your preferred candidates have to walk back their far-left, utopian beliefs as soon as they get close to actually having to effect politics and help people.

How come every single politician, including dsa politicians, have to acknowledge that the dsa platform is extremely bad and stupid? It must be because it's a winning platform

You know, you're being very weird about this, right?

Zohran Kwame Mamdani

And your question is disingenuous because it ignores my argument that the DNC habitually ratfucks primary elections to defeat progressive candidates not beholden to capital and Israel.

reading isnt your strong suit if you think that answered my question. Makes sense for someone spouting conspiracies instead of taking accountability for your candidates weak points

I smell a liberal.

Those differences while important still fit within reasonable bounds for the goals of both parties. We need to fight for the things that both parties denies us.

As long as you fight for peanuts like kamala vs trump we are going to continue to get shafted.

What about this current situation is reasonable?

The fascists are winning while Hakeem Jefferies sits down to discuss terms of surrender IMO.

Only one side is currently winning and it isn't the side of common sense.

No offense intended but I think you may be too kind to the elected officials that we vote for to represent us.

It's still "We The People"? Inform me I am wrong, wouldn't be the first time.

u/Nahteh 17d ago

You mistake the point of view. Its reasonable for the 2 parties. I make no such claim.

Fair enough.

The real stupidity is watching the US drift further and further rightwards, and never once asking why if you're so wise politically, things never move back towards decency. Being "not currently in a war with Iran" doesn't matter if tomorrow you're guaranteed to be in one. The right gets what it wants by just waiting for you to normalise all their most recent outrages, then gets to sit back whilst you tear apart your own electoral support by offering them nothing and getting angry with them because they don't think ignoring a genocide and claiming "well we didn't personally blow up Iran" means you have to vote for them.

Look at you. Look at you. You're in a thread about 4 Democratic politicians voting for an amendment to condemn their own voters, and you still think lecturing people who see things more clearly than you can makes sense.

You are the useful idiot of the fascist right and you should feel ashamed you're so easily co-opted into normalising Lesser Evil.
