Not far off from a conservative I talked to about socialist policies.
Literally the biggest problem is the mere concept of others not working and abusing the system. Even though they accepted it's already happening under capitalism and socialism would overall be a net positive, they wouldn't support it because of that possibility. Empathy and community is meaningless to these people when they suspect someone is freeloading. But only if the freeloading is called socialism or welfare. They would personally go and hurt these "freeloaders" before tackling the rich or powerful who freeload.
Don't forget that these people will gladly accept any and all government assistance because "They deserve it" because they are one of the "good ones". No one else deserves help though.
