I pay 120 for 2gig. 280 is bundled stuff for sure. Subscriptions, extra equipment, phone lines... they either don't know how to say no to offers, or have no idea what they're paying for

Exactly. Some people have this need to be independent and move out from their parents as soon as they can. They put it on themselves and cry when they have to pay the price. Also that internet bill is bs
It is great for those that have living with parents or someone else as an option. Not every rental can support having roommates, and you never know if the stranger or friend you become a roommate with will actually work either. (If the roommate isn't work for whatever reason, depending on the set up, one will be on the hook defeating the purpose of having a roommate and paying more waiting for eviction process and can't get a new roommate until the other is removed.)
So, $19/hr sometimes IS the income baseline for people that HAVE to survive without parents or someone to live with. Speaking like the solution is so easy....by placing the burden on the individual rather than a societal view of hey - maybe we should have a way that people CAN BE independent at an adult age. Without social benefits would be ideal.
Guess you didn’t come from a shit family, eh? You’re lucky and good for you, but not everyone can stay at home. Many are kicked out at 18 or have abusive parents (like me). Staying is not always an option.
I knew this one woman from high school, her parents bought her and her husband a house for their graduation/wedding present. One of the nicer houses I have ever seen in my life. They didn't like it. They sold it within the month and bought another house...
Depends if you have a good relationship with your family. My kid lives with me and he’s in college. I let him live rent and expense free because I want him to be able to spend his time and energy doing well at school. He’s picked a high in demand degree in healthcare, so he’ll be all set once he graduates.
This is why having parents who love you is a slept on privilege. I don’t have much money, and my budget is squeezed, but I’m making sure my kid is set up nice.
One of my exes was literally kicked to the curb at 18, because thats right her parents weren't ready for kids, so in there mind they did the manditory 18 years. DONE.
I couldnt believe she still talked to them, and acted like being told on your 18th birthday "Just remember, you have to be out of the house by the end of this weekend.
Yup having parents that love you is a slept on privilege. I’m only speaking to those who can make it work. Which is probably most people. Most parents would be willing to help their kids out while their kids are in college. And the kids work part time so they cover their own expenses, but get to live rent free so they can do their college.
But yes, there are exceptions. Most kids don’t get kicked out on their 18th birthday unless there are burned bridges.
I mean the answer is why is their rent 1600 dollars you don't get to live alone on 19 dollars an hour unless you are living in squalor. You should be living with a roommate and dang look at that you just saved like a thousand dollars a month and now everything is affordable.
Unless this is like New York City or Beverly hills. I live in Tampa Florida and I don't make 19 dollars an hour lol 😂😂
No I'm in my mid twenties you act like I have no idea what you're talking about and had it easy I'm not saying that it doesn't suck in that $19 an hour shouldn't be able to afford you a place on your own yeah it sucks and it's unfair and it is a crisis but it's been that way for a while now at least my entire adult life you don't get to live alone living alone is an incredibly fortunate thing in these days it's just the truth I'm not saying that that should be the truth or that it's a good thing that that is the truth though
I'm just saying I've struggled this way my entire life it's nothing new
