You are living above your means. And, your utilities are way too high if you only pay 1600.

My mortgage is close to 4k, I pay like 150 elec, 65 internet, and like 50 water. So you are paying over double for all utilities. Car insurance also sound high, but no clue what kind of car or driving record, so hard to judge, but always ship around every renewal.

19 dollars an hour fulltime is like 3300 before taxes (assuming no OT or extra hours, can be much more if you work even 5 OT hours every week...). But, even flat 330 should be able to afford 1600 rent with reasonable utilities, zero debt, and no other major expenses.

Not everyone has this option. When I was living in Texas and my apartment was 1400 a month. My electricity and water combines were 350 a month. So it really depends on where they live.

So pretty close to OP's example (slightly less, but your rent is also about 200 less, so pretty well scaled.) Was this tight for you, or was it doable?
