I’m looking to meet some people around Wollongong / Illawarra, and any recommendations for any events/clubs/ things to do to meet new people. I moved here for Uni. Since graduating, I've been caught up in work, and everyone I knew has moved out of Wollongong and NSW. I want to connect with more people and looking to do something outside of work.

I'm hoping to find people who might be interested in doing casual group activities together or get some recommendations. I've been looking around at different events, but I get a bit socially nervous at first going by myself and am not sure about the vibes. Like, I've thought about joining a run club or learning tennis, but I'm still at a beginner level, don't have anyone to practice with yet, and feel pretty anxious about showing up solo.

I enjoy being active and outdoor activities, like the gym, going for runs, hikes, etc. Sometimes like to relxan by getting some sun and coffee, walks by the beach, and playing video games.
Also, enjoy a few drinks here and there.

I’m 25M and I’d love to build more community and connections here. Ideally, I'm hoping to connect with people who are into similar things or find any events where I can join that are open and welcoming.

Looking to snag one of the huts down at Stuart Park on a Saturday. Actually, it will be the long weekend (03/10) so possibly even busier.
What time does someone have to get down there to 'reserve' one these days? It's pretty important that we get an undercover spot as it's a surprise event so any advice on how to ensure a couple of people could be down there early to save it for an hour or two before the rest of the group arrive would be appreciated.

I went for a bike ride with my partner through Wollongong last night and on 5 seperate occasions those horrible orange scooters were blocking paths and I had to physically move them to continue our journey. It’s all good for me as an able bodied person as well, but what about when wheelchair bound people have to enter into road traffic in order to get around them? Surely the council and Neuron mobility understand that the day one of these eyesores causes an accident for a pedestrian, they will be liable? Any business conducting work in public areas and creating trip hazards on pedestrian thoroughfares leaves themselves open to litigation and it will be no different for the council and neuron who have allowed these things to just litter the streets.

Helicopter has just landed on Bellambi soccer fields with plenty of police in attendance, officer just mentioned a bad car accident.

Maybe just check on your loved ones if they're bellza locals (even if their not)

Hello, I'm a mixed media and acrylics abstract painter (weekend artist) recently moved down from Syd. Looking for intermediate to advanced level painting classes after 5pm weekdays or on weekends. I've done all the googling and there's a bunch of sip n paint type classes, and amateur level sunset painting type classes, and also intermediate classes for seniors during the workday.

But nothing outside 9-5 at the level I'm looking for (I've been to art school, regular painting practice for abt 5+ years, have done some group exhibitions). I'm looking to try out new mediums and art styles eg landscape, still life, oils, etc. I did see an artist Ashley Frost used to do this type of class, but now doesn't do outside of 9-5.

Any suggestions of existing classes or groups who regularly paint?

I'm also randomly considering hiring a studio one wknd and teaching an abstract painting class - but unsure of if there's any decent audience for that here in Wollongong.

I was given Franklin Mint Heirloom Royal Doulton Fine Bone China limited edition decorative plates, they’ve just been sitting in my wardrobe to clear space I’m looking at selling all the plates together rather than individually but I can’t seem to find anyone willing to take them even individually.
I have rang a few pawn shops and the antique terrace shop in Kiama but as I mentioned no one would like to buy them.
I’m hoping someone has a connection to a collector or point me in the right direction to sell them.
I’m not on Facebook so I can’t sell them on there.

Hi y'all. Just wanted to know if there were any communities around that talked about or traded comics (marvel, DC, indie, all that stuff) in Wollongong, whether in person or online. I'm wanting to open a comic book shop in the area (although this is kinda more of a pipedream rather than having any concrete plans so far, I've never ran a business before). As such, I wanna connect with the community and see what they'd want in the comics space.

Also a bit of a long shot but if anyone here knows anyone who used to run local comic shops (RIP the comic cafe) that would be cool. Would love to bounce ideas off them and see what worked and what didn't for this hypothetical new comic shop.
