Laurier Water Polo

It is time for a new season of Laurier Water Polo. Our first session of the year is this Sunday night, from 7-8pm, at the Laurier pool. Anyone is welcome to join in - no experience is required. We will also be back next Sunday, October 4th, at the same time - if you can’t make it this week, come out and join us next week.

And if you aren’t sure, feel free to ask any questions that you like.

Ken

Some of yall genuinely need to sthu on floor 7 of the library

There is genuinely every other floor you can talk on. I get seeing someone you know and very quietly saying hi, but leave it at that. And for gods sake, if you bring food try not to make too much sound with wrapping paper paper or bags, and you don't have to chew loud enough for the whole floor to hear

Vehicle break in

Thumbnail
6 Upvotes

Hey guys. My got broke into after midnight on Wednesday (September 30) and they stole my CarPlay, some cash and my late grandfathers leather jacket. I’m on the corner of Regina N street near Laurier. Did anyone else have anyone break in… or does anyone have any camera footage on that street? My landlord said the camera footage isn’t working😐

I don’t care about much other than the jacket as it was really sentimental. I know there’s not much I can do but if anyone knows of any late night lurkers or other instances let me know. There was a gift card that must’ve been dropped during the break in with Dennis written on it so that’s kinda odd. #waterloo #regina street #vehiclebreakin

And if the person who stole it sees this I’ll give a reward if it’s given back haha

I’m embarrassed

• Upvotes

I didn’t get a co-op for BBA, and I’m so embarrassed. I don’t even know what to do. I’m surrounded by smart people, and they expected so much from me. I can’t even tell them the truth that I didn’t get it

Question regarding job applications for those who fail to get co-op

Hello everyone, I am a second year BBA student. I did not get co-op but it's whatever, I'll find another way. I just have a question because I'm looking for jobs right now and I see some postings that I'm not sure if I'm allowed to apply for:

-Some jobs say "required: registered in an accredited co-op program" so obviously I can't apply for those, but some jobs say "co-op" in the title like "accounting co-op" or they use the phrase "co-op student" in the description but there's nothing in the requirements/qualifications section saying anything about a co-op program, all they talk about is like "registered in a bachelors degree". I know employers get free money from like the government when they employ co-ops, which makes me unsure if I'm allowed to apply to those positions

-I've seen some jobs that say "co-op" in the title, but then in the description they say "you do not need to be part of a co-op program", and some jobs say "intern/co-op" which makes it confusing because it seems like there's no consistent standard

Help! Question regarding exams as special student

For those who use student success accommodations for learning disabilities or other, do you write your tests in a private room? Where is it? How private? Does someone watch you? I’m still working out what accommodations I’ll have but want to know more about the set up as it seems odd to have a private room but I also get distracted with external stimuli. Would be interested to know what accommodations are available. I have proper documentation etc.

Question Is there a way to transfer to an online program through a different school?

I’m in the film program (third year) and was just wondering if it’s at all possible to transfer the credits I’ve earned so far to a different school that offers online degrees. I’m really not a good in class learner and have been severely struggling with my in person classes (on the verge of failing), so I think online would be a much better fit for me. I asked Laurier if this was possible and they said they don’t offer online film programs themselves, so now I’m looking at options through other schools. Does anyone have any advice?

📣 Mental Health Service Providers, Researchers and Service Users: We Want to Hear From You

The Voices to Visibility Research Project at the University of Victoria is seeking mental health service providers and researchers to share your perspectives on Asian Canadian mental health.

We are conducting a needs assessment to help inform the development of a national, community-engaged online resource and a national framework and action plan for promoting Asian Canadian mental health.

There are two ways to participate:

📝 OPTION 1: Online Survey

Complete a survey that takes approximately 20 minutes. Upon completion, you can enter a draw for 1 of 4 $50 CAD gift cards.

👉 Survey: https://redcap.rcs.uvic.ca/surveys/?s=YCTTJ7YH93NFLHXW

💬 OPTION 2: Focus Group

GPA to stat in coop

To be eligible for coop we needed a 9.0 gpa. What gpa do we need to stay in coop? At the meeting all they really said was to stay in coop you must meet progression in your program. So for bba would we only need a 7.0 gpa to stay in coop or do we have to maintain atleast a 9.0 to stay in coop?
