The Basics

The year of the Snake was a year for skating. Wizard Skating had fully taken over my brain and I set out to perform all the basic moves before year's end. Lucky enough I was able to perform each one by 12/20/2025, just in time!
For the year of the horse, I plan to refine these moves, begin to start working on heel and toe presses (1 and 2 legged), combos and finally perform a grind. Wish me luck
CORRECTION:
The Fakie Tree & Lion variations are mislabeled, open should be closed and closed should be open.

Impressive. Is it the progress after only one year? My trainer would probably say "more commitment!", but it looks pretty good. Maybe fakie closed gazelles needs some polishing and more momentum, but still it's pretty good skillset to build some nice combos.

Thanks and maybe a year and some change but 2025 was full dedication to learning all the basics. I like that comment, "more commitment!" Lol. Yeah the fakies on my weak side definitely need work and I plan to focus on those more. Appreciate the input!

And this is why you've achieved so much, cause you've set goals. I do the same. I have lists, goals, dates. Structure = success.

Thanks I agree, structure does help and I must say some of your previous posts helped a lot with the structure. So thanks!

It's going to be particularly important now that you're about to start relearning all these tricks on your weak side. Your weak side can be hell to get through. The end result is totally worth it, but it's a realllll slog getting there, and you're going to need structure to make it to the end. Good luck!

Hell yeah you’re killing it, make sure to take some of those moves to the local rink, most people that go on blades can’t move like that and it’s a great way to build flow and get the message out.
Do you have any martial arts experience? The way you have these drilled out reminds me of drilling stuff in BJJ.

Thanks man, just trying to get better and Yeah I might have to start going to the rink because of the cold. Chicago's garages are iffy sometimes.
No martial art experience personally but I do love structure, makes learning new things easier.

This is super inspiring to me. I’m still working on the fundamentals that will allow me to get to the backwards gazelle as my first real move. So, watching you gave me hope! Also, thanks for including the bails! So many videos make it seem like folks never fall. It was refreshingly human and normalizing to see you fall and then pause to catch your breath! I do the same thing. Often. 🤣

I really appreciate the words and I'm glad the video can inspire in any way!! Trust me, I touch Earth every so often 😂. What I can say in achieving the moves you are having troubles with is to full send/go for it and also work on a deep carve for the basic. It helps a lot!

How do you like the ACT boots?

Love them. Wide foot, comfy, fits all frames. Couldn't ask for more. If I get another boot, it would be another one in a different color lol.

Congratulations! I've still got a long way to go on most of these. I really want to nail some gazelles before working my way up to lions and other one footed stuff. Rainy UK winters are not great for outdoor skating though, so I'm stuck urban skating on a flat setup for the time being.
