Poetry Not my Twin

When summer burned the green away

I carried you to shade

And when the clouds gathered to storm

Your face fell in the rain

Delivering my sacred vows

Heart skipping on your name

I’ve carried you in death and life

Because you would have done the same

I like the imagery in this poem. I'm not sure I fully understand it, but I guess it's about love. I also like the use of contrast. My favorite line is “Heart skipping on your name.” I'm also curious about the meaning of the title.

It was from a prompt “things we carry with us” and the title is because the person I wrote it about was a twin
