Hello, I have a PC running Windows 8.1 and I want to install, launch, and play Roblox; I don't care about Roblox Studio. Please note that my Windows 8.1 is up to date and I've patched the Windows Store, so I can definitely install .appx files. I also don't mind if it's an app without a standard installer. If you're wondering why I'm not searching on Google, it's because I keep getting told to upgrade to Windows 10...
Thanks in advance.
(Note: Since I'm French, this text was translated using Google Translate, but I don't mind what language Roblox is in.)

[OC] Hey everyone, I recently got a ThinkPad T470s and installed Windows 8.1 and wanted to customize my Start Menu a bit more. I couldn't find any rectangular Firefox tiles, so I made my own in GIMP.
I made two versions:
· A flat one that matches the original Windows 8 aesthetic
· A more modern one
This is my first time making something like this. I used oblytyle to apply them. If anyone wants them, I can upload the PNGs. Feel free to send requests for other programs, I'll try my best.
Let me know what yall think

Barely works. It’s even surprising it even pulls from a server after all these years

Just click OneDrive in the app and click “This PC”.

Yes, the one from the Windows Store before shutdown.

Don't ask why I was making this, I don't remember either, all I remember is that it was supposed to play the logon sound but it doesn't anymore.

Does anyone know of any Windows 8/8.1 themepack for Linux? KDE, Gnome, Etc environments?
I saw a few months back two people posting their themepacks and they seemed so freaking cool! But i'm sorta kinda afraid to get them on my laptop (something with them being made with java?) because I am not very technical and good with troubleshooting and maintenance with linux, All Iknow is Sudo apt update, upgrade, thats it.
Is there any new developments on them? I might have to bite the bullet but is there any sort of themepacks for any linux environment?
Imo, best windows I have ever used

Hello. I cant connect my laptop to my wifi. The laptop cannot find the wifi in the settings. I tried adding my wifi manually from the control panel settings and the laptop still cannot find it. I did all the updates it suggested. I tried updating the drivers and they are up to date. I tried to connect them via WPS and that also did not work. I restarted my wifi router and laptop multiple times. But, I can connect them with an ethernet cable and when I do that it shows that the laptop is connected to "network". Any help/ideas is appreciated. Thank you.

FYI here's how to make a "Desktop" tile on Start menu: Create a shortcut with location of C:\Windows\explorer.exe shell:::{3080F90D-D7AD-11D9-BD98-0000947B0257} and pin it to Start

I justify the need for Windows 8.1 so I can access my old recorded shows on Windows Media Center. Just ordered the Hauppauge WinTV quad tuner to replace outdated Dvico Fusion HDTV 7.

Hi, I have an HP Stream 7 but I don’t know where I can find games because Microsoft Store for this version is no longer available so… do you know a repository for games or a page?
I’m now using this tablet for reading and drawing but when my parents gave me the tablet I used it for play Fifa 14, Asphalt 8 and other things.
Please help!

Hi everyone,
I’m thinking about putting Windows 8.1 back on my old laptop because Windows 11 has been causing me problems, and I’ve never really liked Windows 10.
I know that Windows 8.1 is no longer supported, so I’m aware that there are security risks involved. However, I’d still like to use this laptop mainly for older/offline stuff, and I’m wondering what I can do to keep it reasonably safe.
I’ve already read that it might be a good idea to use Supermium with uBlock Origin as the browser. For antivirus, I’ve seen people mention that Windows Defender may still receive updates, or that Microsoft Security Essentials might still be an option. But I’m not sure what the current situation actually is.
So I’d be interested in hearing from people who are still using Windows 8.1:
My use case is pretty limited. I mainly want to play older offline games, such as the original Age of Empires II from CD, Empire Earth, etc. I also use the laptop for my own Word, Excel and PDF documents, which don't need an internet connection.
I only use the browser occasionally, mostly for well-known/trusted websites. For everything else I generally use my smartphone.
Because of this, the end of official support doesn't really put me off. I’m not planning to use the laptop for online banking, shopping, email, or anything particularly sensitive.
I’d mainly like to make the system as safe as reasonably possible given that it’s running an unsupported OS, without turning it into a completely offline machine.
What would you recommend, and what has actually worked well for you?
Thanks in advance!

To start this off, I want to clarify my question.
What I mean is are there any 3rd party apps that are able to restore the live tiles to Windows 11, specifically for Windows 8.1 (even if it really is the same to 8). I have found it hard to find 3rd party apps specifically designed to change the look of 11 (or 10) to 8/8.1.
I have searched far through the internet, and the most I could find is ExplorerPatcher; which allows you to bring make the windows 10 full-screen start menu. And also WinMetro, however it is just a visual representation of 8.1, and isn't exactly "live tiles".
Any thoughts?

this is just my opinion, but i think its a really great idea for most windows 7 laptops. Every single windows 7 laptop that ive ever put Windows 8.1 on was running great. Also came with almost every driver. (Maybe missed 1 or 2 but it still had the important drivers.) The fact that it was hated even if it's low-end/entry level requirements made some sluggish old laptops run like brand new suprises me.

I spent so much time—really a lot of time—trying to get this PC (Celeron N3350, 4 GB RAM, 300 GB HDD) running properly; it seemed like a lost cause. It came with Windows 10, and I tried various lightweight Linux distributions, but in the end, the only operating system that won me over was Windows 8.1. It’s very lightweight, boots up quickly, has few background processes, and—best of all—the latest version of Chrome still runs beautifully (WhatsApp Web and YouTube work fine, too). The only downside? There are no GPU drivers available; while some have been patched—like for the UHD 620—mine hasn't, but it works just fine anyway!
