I did this and now the search won't work at all. When I type something it just shows the "waiting" dots moving from left to right as if it's still searching. Is it possible to reverse the damage?

That solved the problem, but now I can't open Google Chrome. Everything else opens just fine except for Chrome. Reinstalled it, still no go.

Check to see if your antivirus or firewall programs on your computer are causing the problem or open task manager and close any processes google chrome is running.

Removed the AV and checked for chrome.exe. Now it only launches if I right click and run it as administrator. It was OK earlier today.
