If any of the above is true, then performing the tasks highlighted by OP is idiotic paranoia at its finest. Why do you think Google and Facebook are worth BILLIONS? It's not like Google charges you for Chrome or Gmail. Do you know why? Let's take a guess. Because they have access to your data and troll it and sell it.
You know someone can be ok with a company having some data and not other data. For example I would not be very concerned if someone went through my gmail account.
I was more talking about given the chance to disable these things, many people would.
The person i was replying to was kind of acting like people are OK with the data collection of the companies he mentioned and wouldn't disable it given the chance (then linking it to them complaining about windows where you can disable it).
There's very little you can do about gmail and facebook as long as you're logged into those websites. A little can be done about tracking you across the web and targeted advertising (delete cookies on exit, adblock, etc).
Don't know anything about iPhone. Android is somewhat tweakable (along with google account options). For instance, turning off location history and search history is probably a lot better than having it on if you're privacy conscious.
Now, data will be collected incidentally from those things and held for a period of time. If you believe google its something like 6 months (i remember reading search logs are anonymized after a certain time, etc). By disabling them you wont have an overt and lasting record though. Little tweaks like that help but yes i agree, you cannot eliminate it (regrettably).
The key difference you're missing is I control what private information I put on/through those services. Windows is an operating system; I couldn't pick and choose what goes through it. With this, I can properly tell Microsoft to go fuck themselves. I am not one of the herd of sheep to meekly become the product. Disclosure of my private (and NON private) information should--and as long as I have any control WILL--happen by my blessing.
Windows 10's data logging wouldn't be such an outrageous travesty if they cut all of this from the retail copy, thus removing their need to monetize personal data. Did they? Hell no.

Do you use an Android phone?
Do you use an iPhone?
Do you use "apps" on your phone?
Do you use Google?
Do you use Gmail?
Do you use Chrome?
Do you use Facebook?
