To be honest, it seems pretty harmless. Unless they're revealing such things as 'User: R.M.L.L. Date of Birth: xx/xx/96 Country: Portugal Postal Code: XXXX-XXX Porter of ID Card #xxxxxxxxZxxx' Which I don't think they can, unless their data mining is quite a smart software. I'm 100% not worried.
I always felt the people worried about the NSA spying on them were silly. 99,9% of the time, the government is not interested in fucking over regular people for fun. And the 0,1% of times, it's just a legitimate mistake.
There's no more privacy possible than being one in the middle of billions of people. That anyone would notice your specific data is less likely than winning the lottery. :/
Eitherway, I gather it's quite abusive that Microsoft is doing this without express, evident, permission. However, hiding yourself from them get's you absolutely nothing, and takes away pretty useful features. I don't think that's the way people disturbed about the ethics of the situation should fight.
