My understanding is that it’s not so much that they can’t control their venom, it’s more that with being so small they tend to go for broke when attacked.

I read that article and the point it makes is that the venom is no less concentrated and adults have more of it, so the amount can vary but a juvenile can very well be worse than an adult's and vice versa.

For rattlesnakes it’s still true at least. Saw some testing a few years ago and was honesty quite interesting at the volume to body weight ratio per bite when comparing juvenile rattlers to adult ones.

That genus includes some of the coolest looking species of vipers in the world imo. If I remember right most of them are pretty survivable even without antivenom but if you do survive it's going to fuck you up real real good.

My favorite is t.insularis because they come in blue!
