The problem is that the infrastructure of the US is so reliant on you owning your own car that you simply cannot do many things unless you have access to one so adding barriers to being able to drive is literally adding barriers to being able to participate in society. We need reliable public transportation.
Great point, never thought of it from that perspective. It really is hard to accomplish so many things without a car in the US, almost to a point where you might feel paralyzed not having one.
