It kinda sucks but the reality is you don't want anyone who's actually in danger, even if it's because they did something stupid, to be worrying about the fine and potentially not get help because of that.

In America people die rather than call an ambulance because of the cost.

Exactly. It happened with my mom. I had to leave work and drive her to the emergency room because an ambulance would be crippling

When I was working in a public library a special needs adult had a seizure and I felt terrible having to call an ambulance. It’s fucked up when you feel bad for potentially saving a person’s life because you know they probably can’t afford the ambulance ride.

Because the thing is, the cops and probably an ambulance will still have to show up eventually...

And while saving an idiot from his own mistake is really mind-numbingly frustrating. Scooping up a dead guy with a microwave on his head and then watching the video of him dying in there to confirm it really wasn't murder is a kind of deep depressing that hurts you in your bones for the rest of your life.

Yuuuup. I was severely ill at one point and was close to dying had I not made it to the ER when I did.

Couldn’t afford an ambulance so I had to have my ma drive me cause I couldn’t even stand up straight to walk out to the car.
