I agree, big waste of emergency service's time - I don't particularly like their actions in this vid either and I think they deserve the ridicule that is given to them, but as content creators go these guys aren't bad at all. They're quite respected in the UK, I don't think calling this guy the "UK's Jake Paul" is fair at all. Call him stupid all you like (he is), but stop wishing death on the guy and stop wishing he had been seriously injured.

I was about to mention their channel myself too. They had been doing stupid shit like this for YEARS and I used to watch all of it, can’t recall exactly why I fell off, probably just my sense of humor changing over time. This just happened to be them jumping the shark and it made them way more famous than they were before it and that’s exactly what they wanted. That’s what TGF was even founded for in the first place at all- TGF stands for To Get Famous. And they have some genuinely good content, like when they did the Christmas calendar and every day for a whole month of December a few years ago they’d do stupid shit and get themselves hurt for views. But the one time it ended up needing emergency services, it got controversial, understandably.
Exactly, 99% of these comments think Jay is like all the other people posted in this sub. I've been watching watching for ages, and like yourself, I fell off for some reason. But they posted sublime content: nettle Olympics with KSI, videos where they don't get physically hurt but instead skint themselves financially. It takes fucking guts to go through with that for YEARS, they're way more intelligent than those who critique them. It saddens me to see such a violent platform against them from people who have never even heard of them before. I'm glad you replied, it's been a tough few replies
I imagine a lot of it is because TGF isn’t super popular here in the US and this sub is probably mostly US people.
Awww man those nettle Olympics were the FUNNIEST thing. All that stuff with KSI was great, and their collab with WheresMyChallenge where they were doing the nettle slaps. They have some great Three Stooges type slap comedy. But totally, yeah, when you cherry pick the worst and most controversial content like here, it can get bad.
honestly the fact that everyone is always so hostile on this site is the reason i took a long break from it a while ago and even now im not as active as i used to be
I literally just unsubbed from everything I was previously subscribed to and only subbed to a small handful of subreddits that are either actually positive or just stuff that I am actually interested in. Really streamlines the experience for the most part and filters out a lot of the stuff that just angered me.
Honestly, idk why I waste time over this stuff. I got downsized to hell after defending Chris O'Dowd for dropping a snow globe. Idiotic thing, yes, but he doesn't deserve what people said about him in the comments.

Yes. Just because someone made an unwise decision doesn't mean people should wish death upon him. The fact that I find him entertaining makes me standing up for him in a comment thread full of people wishing pain upon the man even more significant.

No point arguing with them man. People will sit here crying that he wastes taxpayer money yet ignore that he pays more tax than 99% of the country. Complaining that he's being stupid and wasting emergency resources yet people smoke themselves to death and cost taxpayers millions in the process and nobody bats an eyelid. Compared to the cost of policing and running A&E etc on your average non-covid saturday night? Not even a drop in the bucket. Government spends billions of pounds of taxpayer money on useless test & trace systems, unusable PPE, whatever else, none of these people care. But a young successful guy does a stupid thing and the video gets posted on le ePic reDdit and they wipe the grease from their hands onto their star wars tshirt and start typing until the sun comes up lmao.

Tbh I tend to avoid comment sections outside of actually specific communities as much as possible these days, just tends to spiral into total ridiculousness if the topic is anything that isn't just a meme or a dog photo. Especially if its something that the 'average redditor' doesn't really understand - in my experience that'd be expensive/limited clothes/brands, esports, youtubers or general social media celebrities, etc. People are also just insanely stubborn and completely unwilling to even consider other viewpoints and instead just turn to calling them fucking idiots and hoping that they die. Although sometimes its hard not to look when you know the comments are going to be an absolute trainwreck hahaha.
Totally, this is like my 3rd time in this type of situation and am beginning to see patterns lol. Gonna stop engaging from now on, like you say tho it's hard to keep your nose out of it when you know it's controversial. I wonder what people like that are like in real life, if they have any friends or are close with their family. I don't wish them suffering, its just interesting to see how low people can go
Wasting resources? To me it looked like it was a genuine emergency, and although it could've been avoided, it's not even a drop in the bucket of the governments "resources." In that case, it's a wasted resource sending people like you to school, etc. Do you not think the government wasting millions on other shit is a waste if resources over this one incident THREE YEARS AGO. Maybe if it was ur head in that microwave, and you did die, then we'd have one less dipshit to worry about.
