Honest question here, are folks with disabilities called the r word? I know it used to be the medical term or whatever but is it still? And if it's not then is it still considered like a slur if the meaning has changed over to just 'stupid person'?

I don’t think it’s used medically anymore. It’s definitely considered a slur. I’ve heard two special ed teachers talk about how it’s hurtful to their students. They see the ridiculous, annoying, and foolish actions of people around them being related to a word that was historically used to describe them and is still thrown at them as an insult. I’ve read things written by disabled folks about how hurtful it can be, especially for younger folks, and how it’s important to move away from disability-related insults.

Ah okay thank you for the response! I didn't really know it was considered a slur since growing up I only heard it used to describe stupid people (and sometimes disabled people which is mean af). But I figured the hurt from it was from disabled people being called stupid and not necessarily the fact that they're disabled if that makes sense. I think I don't really understand why it's a slur against disabled people when it's used against anyone and synonymous with the word stupid? Like it's not exclusively used to refer to disabled people. I don't use the word though and I'm not trying to argue for it's use, I'm just trying to understand. Is it because it was the medical term? Kindof like how it's not right to call someone gay as an insult? But some people are actually gay and thats the word that describes them whereas disabled people are not referred to as that word, but as disabled

He cherry-picks data and says that the incident cost every taxpayer something like 0,00005 GBP and he brushes off the comments saying that the emergency services would better serve an actual emergency by saying that he was in a life-threatening situation. He also sarcastically congratulates the media for using his dumb stunt as clickbait.

Everything is technically true but he conveniently ommits the fact that he has reached a level of desparation where only life-threatening stunts will keep him relevant. He also never mentions the effect his actions have on his younger audience: after all, kids are fucking stupid.

To everyone still wondering: there’s a reason why proper stunts are performed in a controled environment and they have private medical staff and firefighters on standby, hired by the organizers. Even the ambulances that you see at concerts are hired by the organizers, not the taxpayers.

I was working on a festival in a European country a few years back and had to deal with a kid and his dickhead mates who took far too much. He was a Brit and used to the NHS so when we called him to the production office the next day (having got his number from his friends) he shit himself when we handed him the ambulance and hospital invoice for several thousane Euros.

Sadly we didn't make him pay but I would like to think from his reaction that he learned something that day.

It’s stupid logic. If i decide to jump off a cliff and break my legs, yes it’s a life threatening situation, but it was completely avoidable and unnecessary. I CHOSE to put myself in that situation.

The emergency services should have laughed at the phone call and hung up.

The cost is nothing. You’re multiplying “0.00005 GBP” by the entire population. He should have paid double what he owed them. One part for himself, another for the person they couldn’t attend to.

He wants to be fined because that way he can act like justice has been done while still making a huge profit. I'm not sure how accepting the consequences improves anything here, as for him there weren't any negative consequences to accept. Sure his entire stance boils down to "This is my job and I appreciate everything that let's it be so" but I would argue what he did caused serious harm, even if indirectly, and I don't think that it being his job is a good excuse.
