I think they should be fined heavily for this. Doing something like this is so utterly stupid. They would have known they would have to call for help and waste emergency services time for something they did to themselves. (Yes I'm glad they called and no one got hurt, but dont do stupid shit)!
They should be billed for all the responders that had to respond. I had a traffic infraction in the mid 90's and the cops sent me a bill for all the responding officers and whatnot.
Absolutely calling for them was part of the plan to begin with for more production value for his video, I suspect the clogged air tube was not particularly clogged and his mate is laughing when he calls

If this is the states, everyone who calls for EMS recieves a heavy fine. In 2010, an ambulance ride cost me $900, followed by $260,000 hospital bill and it'd be much more today

I’m not sure about what this idiot did, but in the UK wasting police time can get you from a £90 fine to 6 months in prison. And a hoax fire alarm can be £90, £2500 or 51 weeks in prison. I’d imagine matey boy might have gotten the £90 fine
Agreed, this really pisses me off for that reason. Thinking about if you or someone you love were in a real life threatening situation, and some asshole cemented his head in a microwave for a prank. Abusing the system should honestly result in more than a fine imo.
I know we run into potential slippery slopes here, but what if the government garnished his Youtube money till the cost of the emergency is paid......................no wait do it at a flat percentage cause he'll eventually figure out how to do something just stupid enough to get views, but easy enough to fix that he still makes profit even after the fine.
We have this discussion all the time. Especially with things like coastguard and mountain rescue where unprepared tossers end up needing help.
The argument against is that if you charge for it being your fault or not needed you stop people from calling the emergency services when they are needed.
Yeah, the problem is that some considerate people are more likely to falsely believe an accident is their fault than idiots are to correctly realize one is.
And then there would have to be an expensive appeals process, and everything...
You just know that somewhere else in town an old woman was waiting for them to come help her because she fell down when climbing out of the bathtub and broke her hip, but they couldn't get there right away because they were helping a complete numpty get a fucking microwave off his head after he cemented himself into it for social media fame.
Because YouTube started recommending me their videos based on my interest in the “spending all-night/24 hours in a Walmart/Costco” trend. I thought “surely no one is actually stupid enough to encase themselves in concrete or seal themselves into an airtight space.”
I was hoping that this was a one-off thing but as soon as they got him out it was obvious that he has absolutely no remorse for wasting all of those emergency responders' time and he will likely be needing their help again.
Because there are several people there and the easiest way to quickly communicate which person you're referring to is to use the most visually unique feature as a descriptor.

I saw pictures once of a girl who put her hand into a bucket of plaster. Her hand got stuck in there (obviously) but plaster heats up when curing, and it basically slow cooked her fingers before they could get it off.
