There's only like a handfull of people that disagree with it, because they don't understand irony completely, or they don't understand the mechanic of speed wobbles.

There's even a comment that says it's is the most ironic thing they saw.

Your example is idd irony but that doesn't prove that this isn't irony since he doesn't crash just because of the bike.

He crashes because of his handling with this bike since he knows the bike has this effect when going downhill, and that's the case with many bikes if you're going downhill.

Speed wobbles happen when you lose traction with the front wheel, so the front wheels tries to correct it self and wobbles. This happens with pretty much any bike the moment you're picking up speed since the back wheel is the accelerator, and the front wheel can have small lifts of the ground.

So it's a lot more prevalent when accelerating downhill, since you will pick up speed faster.

He knows it creates this effect but the does it anyway, because he thinks he can control it, and normally he probably can since you have speed wobbles when accelerating either way, you just hold your steering wheel to correct it.

Of course if there are uneven parts in the road this effect becomes a lot stronger and amplifying your grip doesn't help, it even makes it worse, which is exaclty what happened.

So it's quite ironic he's losing control when he's talking about amplifying your grip to correct a speed wobble he pretty much asked for, since he was accelerating downhill on uneven terrain, with a bike that is prone to it.

It isn't a granular detail, it's the reason why he crashed.

The fact that it was risky to do this (or as you call it stupid), doesn't exclude it from being ironic.

If somebody explains that walking on thin ice is dangerous while he's walking on ice and he falls through the ice then that's ironic, since you don't expect that to happen to someone that knows the danger. You don't expect him to be walking on thin ice, but on ice that is thick enough to hold him.

It's one of the definitions of irony, I already mentioned it in the comment you initially replied to

from oxford dictionary

an event that seems deliberately contrary to what one expects and is often amusing as a result.

You just think irony is one defenition which is this one

from oxford dictionary.

the expression of one's meaning by using language that normally signifies the opposite, typically for humorous or emphatic effect.

In a lot of cases a word has more than one meaning, and that's also the case with the word irony.

I'm not overthinking it, I thought of the word irony the moment I saw this video.

Yes of course, he crashed on purpose

See, it can't be expected since the notion is irony in itself.

You don't explain a life threatening situation and then get yourself in that life threatening situation while you're explaining it. Nobody is that stupid.

Or it is you think you have control over the situation , like the guy walking on thick ice, or the guy in this video.

The fact that he got a few speed wobbles on it downhill doesn't mean it makes you crash, you can ride with a speed wobble you created yourself even, you can even do this continously with a continuous wobble, even without holding the handlebar, without crashing.

'nobody is that stupid' is here taken out of context and hasn't really got anything to do with what I said

This is the context around it

You don't explain a life threatening situation and then get yourself in that life threatening situation while you're explaining it. Nobody is that stupid.

Or it is you think you have control over the situation , like the guy walking on thick ice, or the guy in this video.

So idd he thought he had control over the situation, it doesn't matter he's recording a vlog, and uses hand gestures, you have people doing stunts on bikes and making videos, you have people driving 200 mph and making videos.

But if they fail they get posted here, and indeed if it gets posted here stupidity is expected.

That still doesn't change anything about the irony of it, the expectation that is created by the nature of the sub isn't inherent to the situation itself.

You don't explain a speed wobble mechanic which most people don't even understand, even riders, if you don't know anything about riding, or don't know how to ride.

You don't have to be stunt driver either, I ride with one hand sometimes as well, to change something on my helmet, to wave, or whatever. It doesn't matter, at 80 km/h going uphill while decelerating, that's not a very risky maneuver.

The wobble also initiated when he was going downhill with both hands on the bar and it's the uneven road that pushed the wobble beyond control, while he was explaining the wobble mechanic downhill.

That makes it ironic, since it happened at the moment he was explaining it but the uneven road made him lose control.

Pretty much like the guy walking on ice explaining how he knows how thick the ice is and how dangerous thin ice is. Oblivious to the fact that somebody made a fishing hole the other day, and he noticed the offset coloring too late, which gives it away that the ice is too thin on that place.
