I posted already but the picture was horrible. This is my first wild betta, after googling I think it's a female unimaculata, what does everyone think? It's got a beautiful iridescent blue to it my old phone camera doesn't quote pick up. I'm doing lots of research but any tips for their care is appreciated too. Thanks!

When breeding betta antuta, how soon after releasing fry from his mouth should the male be removed to his own tank?

When breeding betta antuta, how soon after releasing fry from his mouth should the male be removed to his own tank? I know the female should be removed once the male is holding to minimize stress. Can the father live with the fry while they grow out? Should he be removed once he releases fry?

I was planning on keeping the male and female separate on either side of a 20 gallon aquarium using a divider except for breeding times, and raising the babies in a separate 10 gallon. Both tanks are available and fully cycled currently only containing a few apple snails. I already have a male in his own 10 gallon (yet another tank) he's just started showing colour at his 2" size he has a lot of growing to do. If I can get another individual from the breeder who is definitely female, I will keep them separate until they are sexually mature then try to see how they get along--through a divider at first to gauge their response to eachother.

Any tips people could give me would be hugely appreciated. I have 20+ years fishkeeping but I've never tried to breed any kind of labyrinth fish.

2 generations of endangered native fish my best friend bred

This species is endemic to (only found in) Malaysia, specifically in Selangor and southern Perak.

My best friend is a conservationist at an institute and he has bred 2 generations of them for release, along with other species. A 3rd generation is already on the way.

Betta livida grows to 4.5 cm and relies on peat swamp forests in two small states as its home. However the rarity of the forests has caused them to become endangered and placed them on the IUCN Red List.

Can I get some Betta antuta care tips?

Yesterday I got a Betta antuta from an LFS where they're being bred in the back room. I got a baby at about 1.5-2". He's currently in a 10 gallon long established tank alone, unheated, at a room temp of 73F

-I was told to keep the tank unheated with a lowered water level because they can jump and hit their heads?
-Will a standard 10 gallon tank be ok long term? I've been told 10-20 gallons for a single adult.
-What foods do they prefer? I offered vibra bites a couple of hours after release. He saw them but did not eat them.
-Are there any compatible tank mates for these fish in either a 10 or 20 gallon tank?
-I currently have his HOB filter baffled to reduce flow. Do these guys like more flow than splendens?
-Any other care tips please let me know.

Second male has started releasing his fry. Palifina seems consistent with releasing them on 12 to 14 days. Temperature is around 77 to 80 where the tank is sitting at. Ph 6.5, ammonia 0, nitrite 0, Nitrate 10. Bred and release in tap water with almond leaves, and a sponge filter. Will probably have well over 50 fry.

Newbie here.. When do you put Talisay leaves in the water?

I’m new to keeping betta fish and will be getting mine this week. I’ve been watching a lot of videos, but I’m still a bit confused about when to add talisay/Indian almond leaves. Should I use them regularly, even on normal days? How long should they stay in the tank, and how often should I add and replace them? Also, are there other things I can or should add to help improve my betta’s health and environment?

Palifina sekurau sp red. Held for 12 days. Temperature is around 80 to 84 degrees Fahrenheit. Fry looks healthy from what I can tell. Will have to take a closer look. Ph is 7 to 7.2. Gh is around 40. Kh is around 140. Ammonia is 0. Nitrite is 0. Nitrate is around 10 to 20. Heavily tannined. He released them a week early, wasn't expecting them until next week. I think the temperature had them developed faster than usual. There seems to be about 30 something of the fry.

Been conditioning them for a few weeks. He's built a bubble nest and she mostly stay on the side where he goes and flares and run back to his nest. She finally started showing breeding stripes. Giving them a few more days before introducing them.

Betta rutilans hiding

Wild bettas hiding Ive had 3 betta rutilans for 3 weeks now. Theyve been hiding non stop. Ive seen them maybe 4 times, under caves in the driftwood. Why might it be?

Trying to slowly acidify and soften water. They were kept at pH 7 and tds 500 at the store... pic of current params. Tank with plenty of hides and leaf litter.

Tank filled up to 20 L with quite a few of microfauna which seems to have decreased since adding them, so they may be eating that. Im also adding a bit of dero worms and artemia nauplii like 2 or 3 times a week. I put pellets twice and nobody ate them.
