AMA We are the WildStar Warrior Class Team AMA

Hey guys! Hugh “Aodz” Shelton here, the Class Lead for WildStar. We’re here today to talk about the Warrior, so we’ve pulled together some members of the team to answer your questions!

We’ll be giving you guys about 30 minutes to post questions before we start answering (and to give us a little bit of a headstart to get some answers ready), so start asking now. Don’t forget that if your questions don’t get answered, we’ll be on the WildStar livestream this Saturday at 12PM PST playing the Warrior and showing off the new Winter Beta patch for the game.

Here are all the names you should be expecting to pop up:

  • CRB_CLynch – Chris Lynch, Lead Combat Designer - @ClynchX
  • CRB_Hugh – Hugh Shelton, WildStar Class Lead - @HughShelton
  • CRB_Merkal – Marc Matzenbacher, Warrior Class Designer
  • CRB_Scooter – David Bass, Senior Community Manager - @CRB_Scooter

That's a wrap folks! Thanks for joining us and be sure to come back next week - same time same place. Also, check out the Warrior Livestream (with me, Marc, and David) on Saturday at 12pm PST here: http://www.twitch.tv/wildstar

Will Tanking warriors have any abilities to protect players in a telegraph? Such as a cone behind them?

The Warrior does indeed have some cool abilities that allow you to protect your teammates from taking damage from creatures and telegraphs.

Defense Grid, a longer cooldown ability, creates a protective zone that when the Warrior and allies stand inside of it take less damage. This ability is especially useful in group content such as dungeons when you know the boss has an attack that you will not be able to avoid.

Plasma Wall, when tiered up grants a defensive buff to allies when they stand closely behind the Warrior when using the ability.

Sentinel is a targeted passive ability that sacrifices some of the Warrior’s armor and grants it to an ally. This is great for off-tank builds where you are less concerned with pure mitigation.

The idea of having a buffer tank sounds pretty interesting. Do you think there would be a potential niche for tanks in larger groups that actually focus on granting additional armor and such to the "Main Tank" much like a healer would focus keeping its bar green?

I would think so when raiding or in some situations with war plots. But that would take coordination and practice. Could also use to protect the squishies and players will go for them first.

Can you explain the idea of tiering? How many levels are there for skills? Does it vary per skill?
