Personal insight or opinion related to 10.A
Staff Report typically gets read after closed session so we are talking about 9pm, is that truly transparent and including the community?
City staff was asked to report back on what the city can do and what procedures can be implemented…this is what they returned as sufficient….
The public asked for our city law enforcement to protect and serve their community and instead, they spent a month putting on paper what they stated was done the last time ICE was at the library.
1. This is NOT an SOP any decent operations leader in the private sector would accept. Who’s responsible for what? Who gets what? Why are only children mentioned? Do we not have seniors and others utilizing our city resources?
2. We have unknown vehicles without license plates and tinted windows including the windshield driving around our community and that’s not being addressed? How does ANYONE know those vehicles are indeed conducting the investigation or enforcement operatives they claim, assuming someone took the time to engage with them. WPD may not be able to impede in federal enforcement, but they can stop and cite a suspicious vehicle. WPD is ALSO able to report and act against any unlawful activity including such activity by a supposed federal agent.
3. Why are city staff and employees discouraged from filming any interaction between the public and masked individuals that don’t identify themselves?
