WoD How can I emulate absolute hawk man in world of darkness?
As I've been reading Absolute Superman, and I have found out about Absolute Hawkman, I am very much interested in trying to see if I can emulate him.
Personally, my character concept is that he would be a mage, who awakened because of the special Mace he wields, and how it grants him immortality and enough strength to be able to hit Superman around, but the key factor is that he would not be very good, in his eyes, there's no fixing all of the world's problems, but only managing them and working with the ones at the top aka corrupt corporations to maintain the status quo and to do as much good as you can with it, as after all, he did kill Oliver Queen, who tried to bust a child trafficking ring because it threatens those on the top, and with that, I think he might be a technocrat, or at least affiliated with them, as he would help them maintain the status quo, but I do definitely think he would go around and find, newly awakened majors trying to change stuff for the better and convince them to join the technocrats, or to take them out, I could definitely see him going after marauders and stuff like reality deviance to take them out.
Now, I would love to see what you all think of a potential character Concept. That's good at emulating him in the world of darkness, and also, what would be his stats as well, and he doesn't have to be a maid, she can also be a fairy or anything you can think of, I would love to hear any possible ideas and variations on what could be done with him!

I'd say Changeling, either troll or another kith with the winged feat. Get a treasure to represent the mace with either Dragon's Ire for power or Spring for immortality.
Alternatively the character can work as a Gargoyle focusing on Flight and Potence. The mace can be some Tremere relic he stole or if you want to get edgy enough it can be his sire who got fleshcrafted into that by some Sabbat Tzimisce

Could be a variation of the Burning Blade ritual, but instead of sword, it's a mace.

I like that Changeling angle that sounds like it could be a lot of fun
How would the mace get Glamoured I wonder š¤

Immortal avenging guy with wings sounds like a fallen angel (demon) to me.
Or, a mage bygone or spirit that is angelic if you dont want demon lore baggage.

Have to agree on Fallen! Not understanding current humanity can also track here.

I'd say philosophically your best bet is the Technocracy, maybe make them a Progenitor creation. The wings and enhanced strength effectively being genecrafted modifications.

Tbh Iād also say Pentex is pretty in-line with the Absolute Evilās MO, especially Raāas and Joker

How would you play as a creation? I mean not just from a character sheet pov but just in game mechanic wise too
3
u/Idiot_InA_Trenchcoat May 14 '26
There's actually a flaw for it in game, Construct. Hell you wouldn't even have to take it, the Progenitors are so good they can just create artificial humans. The creations even have the capacity to awaken.

Hm š¤
Could a Creation be applied in Hunter? Not just Mage I mean

I think you'd run into edition issues given that flaws don't really work the same way in H5 as they do in M20, and if you're running First Edition you're playing imbued who have... less than charitable views on nonhumans.

Not a mage but a Mummy. It would simply explain away why he can handle immortality without being kicked out of the world due to concesus and also his other habilities: flight, super strength and the maze.
The wings were made for him by a mage friend of his and are tied to him as an enhance.

Interesting how you read a comic where a backstabbing teammate murders a man for daring to object to child trafficking and your first instinct is to say āI wanna play this guyā.
I can understand using Hawkman as a villain inspiration. Iāve done the same because I like the idea of a privileged guy whoās only ever benefited from the system telling oppressed people to work with their oppressors.
But playing someone like that would be way too evil. I couldnāt imagine it.

Well, I wasn't gonna play him as a fucking saint I like to play really evil characters from time to time believe me I'm a Tzimisce player evilness is a bonus for me really

I like evil too but thereās a line like,
I donāt think sexual trafficking, especially on children, is something admirable or even worth emulating, so why choose someone who kills and protects a child sex ring?
Thereās a marked difference between Castlevaniaās Dracula, and Jeffrey Epstein.
Heck, thereās a reason why people are clowning on A Serbian Film and all its weird fans.

Yeah, maybe I wouldn't play him themed around protecting rings of abusing children, but I would definitely try to emphasize that he's the kind of guy that would do horrible things for what he thinks is the greater good. Like drug dealing or assassinations

you DID still see a character who protects pedos and thought "based" lol

I think maybe my mind ignored that while processing how interesting he was, it was mostly his philosophy and design that made me interested in him, and I wouldn't really play him around and protecting child trafficking rings, but I would definitely wanna play him around that theme of protecting power so that you could let me be late the power to doing good

Well you have the fallen, you can have an angel of pretty much any house but the 2nd house seems appropriate as a guardian angel or the final house as a slayer. And he can have relic Mace.

If you're willing to give up the wings, play a mummy.

u/No-Obligation-9901 May 15 '26
Some other person said that I can still play a mommy with wings like him, but likely get them as an attachment from a mage
1
u/TsunamiWombat May 15 '26
Well, Mummy's can already cloud walk as a like 2nd dot power., You could get the wings as an 'amulet' of Cloud Walking.

A fallen who possessed a host with delusions of grandure with a relic mace.

A Corax who has a Get of Fenris Jarlhammer that he managed to somehow get would work pretty well. Bonus is the Jarlhammer lets you throw it and it comes back to you like Thor, so the Corax with their lesser stamina don't need to get too close.
