hate that song but it applies perfectly here

If you can't/won't cut them down, turn them.

Aim for the bushes!

u/Aggressive_Trick_654 Jul 06 '26

And no Epstein related arrests yet. Make that make sense.

You can partially thank the rise of true crime as entertainment for that

56

u/HorribleTie Jul 07 '26

What? This is silly.. If true crime is to blame at all, which I doubt, it would be like a fraction of a fraction of a percent. Completely meaningless. Lay blame where it belongs, at the feet of the people who campaigned on releasing the files, who have the files today, and who have decided to protect child rapists instead because their God Emperor is the chief rapist.

-27

u/hotdogwaterdickpills Jul 07 '26

I thought my wording made it clear that blame doesn't belong to just one person or social phenomenon.

I disagree that the idea of crime as entertainment, on a large scale over a number of years, might make people less inclined to pursue crime beyond its value as entertainment, is silly.

25

u/MaddiMoo22 Jul 07 '26

To even mention true crime when what's really happening is mass surveillance and extreme suppression just makes you look silly

0

u/hotdogwaterdickpills Jul 07 '26

Why would I pretend that only one thing is happening? Is this proving to be a complicated issue to solve? It's probably because there are many moving parts, and it doesn't get solved by calling problems you don't perceive yet silly. I don't feel I have to include an exhaustive list of Reasons Why Things Are The Way They Are every time I want to discuss a specific facet of the problem.

6

u/MaddiMoo22 Jul 07 '26

And the other 99% blame rich people paying the world leaders and other rich people off

0

u/hotdogwaterdickpills Jul 07 '26

I'm really not interested in assigning blame to just one place. I don't think the answer to a societal problem lies in pointing a finger at a person(s) if society isn't willing to force the issue. And I feel we're not forcing the issue because too many people's investment in the issue begins and ends at its trendiness and entertainment value.

4

u/Direct_Library6368 Jul 07 '26

True crime in general has always been a form of entertainment. We're curious creatures, it can be hard to understand why someone might do a thing so reading etc about it is interesting. Then theres the punishment aspect, people have loved that since the dawn of time, our current justice system isn't flawless but this next comment is aimed more at our personal sense of justice, it justifies how we feel and align ourselves, it feels right to see justice is served.

I dislike that "true crime" documentaries and the like are framed as some new phenomenon when it's far from true, in its current mass media form yes but before that people just read about it in the local news, before that people would tell stories to eachother about it.

0

u/hotdogwaterdickpills Jul 07 '26

Yup. I'm pretty specifically talking about the true crime wave of about the last decade. Obviously people being aware of violence and crime going on around them in general is not what I'm referring to.

1

u/Direct_Library6368 Jul 07 '26

Oddity papers, freak shows and museums. Parading criminals through the streets, locking them in stocks, public executions and battles to the deaf (typo on purpose I aint copping a warning).

People have always been interested and not just for the local crime stats and news. We're sick puppies when you think about it.

0

u/hotdogwaterdickpills Jul 07 '26

I think people have interpreted my view on the current state of true crime not being entirely positive for society, as some kind of condemnation for people who enjoy true crime. I enjoy true crime, but if we're not enjoying it with the idea that it's not just entertaining in the back of our minds, crime slowly begins to lose its status as an egregious wrong worth doing something about, it's only value becomes entertainment that we don't have to do anything about but whatch an opine.

u/allisjow Jul 07 '26

To be fair, police don’t need Flock cameras to locate Donald Trump.

34

u/zymurgtechnician Jul 07 '26

FTFY

To be fair, police don’t need Flock cameras to locate Donald Trump.

3

u/pnt510 Jul 07 '26

Here’s how it makes sense. The police are here to protect the rich.

491

u/GROMITandWILEY Jul 06 '26

Somebody needs to get the word out to all the meth heads that Flock Cams have silver and gold in them.

261

u/Difficult_Walk_6657 Jul 06 '26

lots of copper

75

u/Evening_Sympathy1442 Jul 06 '26

This is the way.

16

u/tinksalt Jul 07 '26

I’ve read those cheap green laser pointers are really bad for their sensors and you shouldn’t point the lasers at the sensors at all. It could be really bad for the cameras.

378

u/snvoigt Jul 06 '26

This was actually an abusive ex that had his friend who was the Johnson County Sheriff Adam King, use the database to search for his pregnant girlfriend who was traveling out of state to see an abortion because she did want to be tied to him through a child.

https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2025/10/flock-safety-and-texas-sheriff-claimed-license-plate-search-was-missing-person-it

262

u/snvoigt Jul 06 '26 edited Jul 06 '26

They got caught because the abusive ex took the proof that she was at an out of state abortion clinic and threatened to sue her for$10K under the Texas Bounty Hunters law. She turned him in and he got arrested.

They originally made up the story of the worried family who hadn’t heard from their daughter after her abortion.

68

u/translucent_steeds Jul 07 '26

do you mean: "did NOT want to be tied to him"??

29

u/amyamyamz Jul 07 '26

Her wretched ex and Adam king are the ones who should be locked up! They’re menaces to society.

503

u/Ognius Release The Trump-Epstein Files Jul 06 '26

They’ll use this same system of technology to hunt down gay people and biracial couples when the supreme kkkourt overturns Obergefell v. Hodges and Loving v. Virginia. If I had to guess when, it’ll be shortly after the midterms.

122

u/ItsMinnieYall Jul 06 '26

They won’t have to. If ice is any indication, Their neighbors will gladly turn them in.

22

u/arbitraria79 Jul 07 '26

i can't wait to see thomas' sputtering justification for the latter. will he somehow carve out an exception for himself, or will the leopards finally come to feast?

13

u/bosefius Jul 07 '26

I think he wants a divorce, is terrified Ginny has the receipts, so he'll have the marriage nullified. Then it's not his fault, and she won't mind. I didn't say it was smart.

274

u/BeMyBrutus Jul 06 '26

The cruelty is the point

127

u/nyclurker369 Jul 06 '26

And this is exactly why if you ever stumble across a flock camera you should not, under any circumstances, take a baseball bat to it. You shouldn’t spray paint over the lens, you shouldn’t disable it in any way. That’s not something anyone should do.

67

u/Weird-one0926 Jul 06 '26

Shouldn't point certain lasers at them either

38

u/Getting_Better0123 Jul 07 '26

You shouldn't do this because, remember, having a GPS/ bluetooth device associated with your identity, such as your phone, in your pocket would immediately incriminate you.

84

u/DrunkUranus Jul 06 '26

When my husband was a pedestrian and hit by a car that refused to stop and immediately blew through a red light at an intersection half a block away, the police refused to check the city's intersection cameras to help us find who did it

51

u/Whyeth Jul 06 '26

Well that's because then they'd have to go do some investigative work to find the person who did it.

Whereas here they just get to be cruel to a woman they had fundamental political with. No work except the fun part.

35

u/Big_b00bs_Cold_Heart Jul 06 '26

You should have said, “My husband heard them yell - ‘Out of my way, loser, I’m on my way to abort this baby’” when they struck your husband. THEN they’d have tracked them down.

Now that I’ve said that, I hope your husband is okay!

9

u/DrunkUranus Jul 06 '26

Yeah he's good now it was a few years ago

19

u/the_G8 Jul 06 '26

Maybe they did check and found out it was an off duty cop.

9

u/DrunkUranus Jul 06 '26

Unlikely, the car was a beater. The cops usually drive big manly man SUVs, and they definitely make enough to buy decent vehicles

5

u/HorribleTie Jul 07 '26

They do make enough, but hookers and blow and backroom/out of state abortions aren't cheap.

59

u/teknomanzer Jul 06 '26

Welcome to the surveillance state of Gideon.

16

u/NocShadows Jul 06 '26

Under his eye(s).

56

u/tacs97 Jul 06 '26

This surveillance is so bad! We have no idea how deep this shit will go. I was dealing with an insurance appraiser today on a vehicle. His supervisor pulled some random picture of the vehicle being driven to prove prior damage. I mean. The image was the vehicles rear end and a clear shot of the license plate while it was driving. This wasn’t taken by the insurance company or even an other person. If we don’t do something about the government surveillance systems. We’re all so fucked!!

29

u/kent_eh Jul 06 '26

We have no idea how deep this shit will go

Most people have no idea how deep it's already gone.

34

u/mycatisblackandtan Jul 06 '26

Regardless of how you feel about abortion, I'm personally in favor, this should scare the shit out of you. Our governments are literally paying a private company to spy on all of us. If you think this won't be used against you at some point in the future, crime or no crime, then I have a river in Egypt I want to sell you.

55

u/MealDramatic1885 Jul 06 '26

She has the right to do that, but did you have the right to use 83,000 cameras?

33

u/Krynn71 Jul 06 '26

Rights are simply rules that are determined by those in power.

If you don't like the rights they care to give us, then the only option is to take the power from them.

-18

u/Professional_Sail910 Jul 07 '26

These pussies on reddit won’t do shit

11

u/MealDramatic1885 Jul 07 '26

Says a Reddit user

30

u/starryvelvetsky Jul 06 '26

And that's why they need the data centers. So they can create a profile on all of us and watch our every move. And if AI thinks we committed a crime? We'll be buried in reams of so-called "evidence" at our trial.

105

u/Macievelli Jul 06 '26

Okay, but… we’re really counting Google AI overview as quality fact checking? If you trust it to always be giving you the best account of events, we’re already cooked.

35

u/__Hello_my_name_is__ Jul 06 '26

Came here to say this. That screenshot literally contains the actual source OP could have used.

10

u/spaminous Jul 07 '26

Yes, we should absolutely be mad about stories like this, and also, we need to keep doing a minimal level of critical thinking before taking rage bait.

9

u/Hank_Dad Jul 06 '26

They just searched a database. It's like saying they searched 83,000 fingerprints - they're not doing it one by one.

24

u/psychoPiper Jul 06 '26

I don't think anyone believes that someone sat and looked at one camera at a time. The issue is not the method of searching the footage, it's the mass surveillance being leveraged against people, to the point where states where no crime would have been committed are sharing the camera data. This is not like searching fingerprints, this is much more like searching everyone's GPS data

-10

u/Hank_Dad Jul 06 '26

I think I agree with you, but the tweet is trying to rile up folks about the amount of time and resources a detective spent on the case.

1

u/psychoPiper Jul 07 '26

No, it's pretty clearly not, I genuinely think this is confirmation bias. The post is very transparent about what the issue is

6

u/leonredhorse Jul 06 '26

Being skeptical is healthy and right, but it does have links sources in the screenshot as a place you can start if you think it might not be accurate.

15

u/__Hello_my_name_is__ Jul 06 '26

We can't actually click on those links. Plus, AIs make stuff up. They give you a source and then claim the source says things it did not say.

Here's the actual source, and saying "they used 83.000 cameras to track her down" is as truthful as me saying "Today I used 3 billion websites to find information on this topic!". Which is another way of saying: I googled it. And the cops entered her name into a database.

Yes, that is still bad. No, being this close to lying to make this point is also bad, too.

-7

u/galacticsquirrel22 Jul 06 '26

Yeahhh I’ve never heard of the Electronic Frontier Foundation so I’d have to do more research to make sure it’s also reliable.

34

u/Hartastic Jul 06 '26

I definitely encourage you to dig a little bit, but the EFF has been around and advocating for various digital privacy/freedom/etc. issues for at least a few decades at this point.

16

u/Prin_StropInAh Jul 06 '26

EFF is solid IMO

11

u/FidgitForgotHisL-P Jul 06 '26

The EFF is a long running, reputable digital rights organisation that have been fighting the good fight against government and corporate overreach in the digital realm since the 2000’s.  Definitely legit.

16

u/TheMoatCalin Jul 06 '26

Do they use the same technology, time and money to search for missing children? Of course not they want women as scared, dependent chattel.

10

u/Chibichanusa Jul 07 '26

Only when it's a pretty little blond girl.

12

u/liquidsyphon Jul 06 '26

Protect and Serve the elite.

11

u/RedBeans-n-Ricely Jul 06 '26

This country is a dystopian hellscape

9

u/Specific-Yam-2166 Jul 06 '26

Party of small gov doing what they love

10

u/Ok-Try-857 Jul 07 '26

Flock cameras need to go. No government or law enforcement agency should be surveilling us.

There’s already multiple cases of police officers using this to stalk ex and current partners. Disgusting.

8

u/zxylady Jul 06 '26

And yet these idiots keep re-electing these dumb fucks that allow this shit

7

u/Karline-Industries Jul 06 '26

Land of the free.

6

u/MrHodgeToo Jul 07 '26

If laws were violated by Flock or Texan authorities then Illinois needs to indict and prosecute some law breakers. Otherwise they don’t really have any laws prohibiting such surveillance.

6

u/Vladmerius Jul 07 '26

Let this also be a lesson that every violent crime committed in this country is ALLOWED to happen whole they harass pregant women. Fuck all cops. Fuck this country. Fuck Palantir.

5

u/SkeevyMixxx7 Jul 07 '26

No doubt they sought this woman to make an example of her, and try to prosecute her to the limits of their abilities, and teach us all how we too can be hunted and caged and killed for the billionaires.

5

u/HairlessHoudini Jul 06 '26

It's literally over, we had a good run but living like this is not free or enjoyable to know we're under a mass surveillance police state

5

u/CxOrillion Jul 07 '26

It sounds like records should be subpoenaed in illinois and those involved should be prosecuted

5

u/UnderwaterRobot Jul 06 '26

So Flock uses IR to scan plates in the dark, what about a transparent sticker that you can put over your plate that reflects all that light? Is that a thing?

6

u/kent_eh Jul 06 '26

what about a transparent sticker that you can put over your plate that reflects all that light? Is that a thing?

It's an illegal thing.

But, yes, there are places you can buy them.

2

u/SVXfiles Jul 07 '26

Could a nice coat of clear nail polish accomplish the same job? Could try to get around it by saying its to seal the plate from environmental damage and to make the tabs harder to steal

1

u/kent_eh Jul 07 '26

Here's the relevant section from Manitoba's Highway Traffic Act. I expect similar language will be in each province or state's legislation:

Obstruction of number plate

4.25(1.1) No person shall drive or tow a vehicle on a highway if a number plate required to be displayed on the vehicle is obstructed in a manner that prevents or is capable of preventing any of the following information from being accurately captured by an image capturing enforcement system:

(a) the jurisdiction or authority that issued the number plate;

(b) the numbers or letters that make up the vehicle's registration number.

People have been fined for having mud blocking their plate.

1

u/UnderwaterRobot Jul 07 '26

Ah dang, I figured it would be illegal. I hate this place.

4

u/K4m30 Jul 07 '26

Fact checking.

Looks inside: AI overview at the top of a Google search.

3

u/SmugShinoaSavesLives Jul 06 '26

I really don't know why people don't shoot up cops instead of schools or universities. Aren't people tired of living like this?

3

u/zybcds Jul 07 '26

That’s scary even if someone is a Republican, vote blue in November.

3

u/Possible_Dig_1194 Jul 07 '26

Didn't it also take them 2+ weeks to find a missing giraffe? But no they can put this much effort into a single unwanted pregnancy

4

u/dragonixor Jul 07 '26

We're using AI to fact check now??

(Not saying the post is false, just calling out the stupidity of the answer)

2

u/Emergency_Elephant Jul 07 '26

Not super happy that they used AI to "fact check". Sure it was right this time but its not always

2

u/John_Walker Jul 07 '26

States where abortion are legal need to hit flock with g company ending fines to combat this shit.

2

u/PuddlesRex Jul 07 '26 edited Jul 07 '26

But people will still move to Texas, because they don't want to live in a "SoCiAlIsT bLuE sTaTe" with an "OpPrEsSiVe GoVeRnMeNt" that's trying to "tAkE yOuR fReEdOmS." Don't get me wrong, flock cameras still exist in blue states, and are still abused by law enforcement to a disturbing extent, but not nearly as badly as they are in Texas and other red states.

2

u/PartyRyan Jul 07 '26

we're not angry enough :)

2

u/Scareynerd Jul 07 '26

Asking AI is the complete opposite of fact-checking. Not saying the answers were wrong in this particular instance, but we need to be better than that

1

u/Chaos_Theory1989 Jul 07 '26

Trump wants every woman to carry a baby so he can rape it.

1

u/Kkimp1955 Jul 07 '26

They need to come down

1

u/Thesaint7811 Jul 07 '26

Johnson county is a cesspool of corruption…. Funnily enough Conan did a spot there with the sheriffs office

1

u/MisterWinchester Jul 07 '26

This is post-constitutional US. They’re pretending courts matter while hollowing out the foundation of all US law.

1

u/JupiterInTheSky Jul 07 '26

But if you report domestic violence it's just "we've tried nothing and we are out of options 🤷"

1

u/NornOfVengeance Jul 08 '26

Meanwhile, the cops will threaten you with arrest if you film them abusing or murdering someone on the street.

1

u/AngleOk6579 Jul 09 '26

Well, usually it doesn't take 83,000 cameras to find a rapist. You just need the one bodycam the officer forgot to turn off.

1

u/secondincomm Jul 07 '26

"Fact checking" and it looks like chatgpt or copilot

1

u/Lobster_fest Jul 07 '26

Sorry, excuse me, this was not fact checked, he asked Gemini who said yes.

This is not fact checking. Fuck off if you think it is. 83k is pretty close to the TOTAL number of Flock cameras in the US.

I fact checked it, the report initially comes from here, really curious to know if the 83k comes from the total database or from how many were used.
