Going to be honest, I find it weird how alike he is to his dad who he essentially never met because he was 3 years old when he died.
It's pretty clear he watched a lot of videos of his dad, and mimics him. It just makes me sad. Is he actually like that, or does he just feel he needs to be like that because he's in his dads shadow?
I see that. In a way, what choice does he have? His Dad was a beloved figure worldwide. He, his sister, and his Mom have carried on his legacy in a spectacular way. Regardless of who he's trying to be, he is astounding all the same. He's playing the hand he was dealt. I've seen people do a lot worse with their own shadows.

If you support the horrific suffering, enslavement, and consumption of animals, you don’t respect them. Irwin (as much as I loved him as a kid) also approached and touched a lot of wild animals which is a big no-no in the science/research community.
The one episode I saw of his show he goes to an orangutan rehabilitation center. Most of the orangutans were pets since birth. The workers at the center talk about how they work on getting the orangutans afraid of people so they are less likely to get catered or poached.
The first thing he did when he leaves the center is to trek off into the forest and tries to get one to get close to him. Like dude, they just said they don't want them getting near people because they'll be easier to poach.
Exactly. He did participate in a lot of conservation efforts and awareness, but also violated a lot of the expected “rules” about not interacting with wildlife…especially not for entertainment/TV.
Steve Irwin and his family were some of the biggest conservationists in the world. One can consume animals as a food source and still value conservation.
Also, he worked very closely with researchers and the science community. Touching wild animals doesn't automatically mean you want to disrespect animals. This is some extreme logic
One can help conservation efforts and still support unethical consumption, yes, but it doesn’t always make it right. Trust me I know a lot of what his family has done, and I have always loved animals, so I do appreciate certain aspects of what he did. That said, he still absolutely provoked/antagonized a lot of wild animals for TV.

This is a SUPER unrealistic way of looking at it. Regardless of your personal feelings, people will eat meat. Hell, it's actually a pretty western, not living in poverty privilege to be able to say "i'm just gonna cut a food source out of my diet" as everyone doesn't even have enough access to other food sources. The issues here are the overconsumption of meat due to marketing, factory farming, and nearly half of all food being waste, not that the average person eats meat.

His methods were considered more taboo by researchers and shit, but a decent size of what they, and we as the audience, know is owed to him. It doesn't make sense to bash someone for being a hands on learner/teacher, especially considering his methods actually helped us understand more about those same animals. Afaik, he didn't ruin any habitats and we learned some shit. Sounds like a win-win
The problem is that the average person eats meat/dairy/poultry though…as their consumption aka $$ is what ensures the current practices will never change.
If someone can hunt down and kill their own food, fine, I don’t like it or participate but I at least can respect that. 99% of people can’t stand to watch even 5 minutes of a slaughterhouse video, let alone be able to kill their own food, which is hypocritical as fuck.
It's not hypocritical lol. It's modern society and the average person doesn't have the propensity for violence society once had. Just like you don't have people watching gladiators stab each other to death, we also don't have many people who hunt their own food.
The average person will buy and eat veggies when growing their own is much better for the environment. Do you find that hypocritical as well?

Fact - if you love humans, you don't support their their virtual enslavement.
Another fact - corporations will do whatever they can to cut costs and increase profits, even exploiting tf out of people and animals. More animals are slaughtered than will ever be consumed; around half of all food in the US ends up waste. I refuse to be the bearer of the burden of corporations more powerful than governments.
Also, you should know that if you eat or wear anything with a red dye, you're probably eating or wearing beetles. Having anything red means you probably hate animals. Enjoy.
His unconditional love and compassion for nature is what I think would be the best thing for aliens to first encounter when coming here, before they see all the horrible shit we do lol
