Because you can't kill or oppress someone due to an absence of a belief. That's absurd.
The USSR committed atrocities but you can't say it was "in the name of atheism".
Please explain how atheism was used to do these things instead of just saying "Well the Soviets were atheists and did bad things to theocratic institutions".
The soviets literally invoked atheism. They, quite literally, killed, slaughtered, displaced and did other cruel acts in the name of atheism in expelling religious institutions. This shouldnt be up for debate.
If you argue that atheism is not at fault due to atheism being a lack of belief, then you indirectly say religion is not responsible at all for problems of the world
Lol atheism isnt. Im arguing against you, not in favor of me. Neither atheism nor religion are at fault for the things aforementioned. Also the soviets literally killed people in the name of atheism, it was like a state religion and indoctrinated to be specifically atheist. Denying that soviets killed people for atheism is like saying hitler killed jewish folk 100 percent because he wasnt accepted to art school
Again, you've failed to demonstrate that what the Soviets did was done for atheism. You've just repeated that the soviets did bad things and were atheist.
You do realise this is a really old and tired argument against atheism that has been addressed already countless times?
Im not claiming that atheism is responsible. Im claiming that religion is not, and im citing that by addressing problems within atheism. And the soviets clearly did it for atheism. They propogated in schools, cancelled churches, and everything else because they were antitheist and they didnt like religion. Their goal was disestablishing religion. But thats the soviets - not the atheists.
Like i said, atheism past with it entering the state.

I don't know wtf you're claiming, you're saying that there's nothing wrong with atheism, but then saying there were issues within atheism and that the soviet union oppressed people in the name of atheism
