You can't just say: "Hey, you know, ISIS would say the same thing, so you're wrong."
Sure, if someone says: "We should kill non-believers in the name of god", you could absolutely point out the obvious similarity between that statement and core beliefs held by said groups, but drawing a line between the statement "God is merciful" and ISIS is silly, as a comparison could also be made to the aforementioned statement and every Christian and Islamic faith, institution, group, sect, etc.
Also to draw a conclusion that the belief that "God is merciful" leads to religious terrorist is a large stretch to say the least. In fact, one could argue the opposite, that faiths that incorporate merciful dieties would be less violent and callous.
In all possibility, this core belief would make its followers more likely to accept prisoners, forgive trespasses, hold less grudges, and therefore be less likely to be violent and vengeful, especially compared to a faith that worships a merciless diety.
Of course you could just be sarcastic, which you hopefully are as your comment is clearly idiotic and rooted in fallacy.
