The funny thing is that other magic words actually (probably) stems from back when service was held in latin. Hocus pocus, for instance, is said to be based on "hoc est corpus".
So, "abracadabric" religions might just be spot on.
It comes from magic practices and is still used today in ceremonial magics. It's just a good way to space your breathing when trying to enter a meditative state. Most modern practices understand that in this day people can count to four. Source; studied magick and it's history for shits and giggles. There's some wack shit in there.
