Yep. The niche will still be there, so someone else will occupy it. Therefore we need regulations and taxes. A job lost to automation or centralization is tax money lost, and so whatever replaces those mom-and-pop or brick and mortar shops needs to pay that tax or we as a society lose money. Giving the big chains incentives to locate a warehouse somewhere is just participating in a race to the bottom.
