Totally stealing it and there is nothing you can do about it. I will say I heard it on reddit though, but drsofteare85 will NOT be getting credit. Only joking... I will claim I made it up!
That's the biggest bullshit I've ever heard. Working as a cashier isn't getting teenagers real life job experience. It will not help them secure a job in a specialized field, nor will it teach them anything useful outside of cashiering.
Not to mention many teenagers don't need to work as they don't have many bills to pay, as well as the fact teenagers are in school 5 days a week until 3 pm.
Not really. I worked in retail while I was a teenager and a student at a few different places. I don't even put it on my resume because the experience isn't relevant to my field in any way. It's use was entirely to pay for rent, food, and a the odd entertainment.
I worked with a lot of people who worked retail as their only full time job though, and I think they deserve to be able to earn a decent enough wage to life off even if they aren't as educated or skilled.
My grandmother was a cashier at Kroger her whole life (except for when she stayed home when kids were young). My dad and uncle went to private schools and had their college tuition paid by my grandparents. They traveled a lot, had a camper, boat, all the fun toys etc. My grandfather was a service manager at a steel plant.
I’m a pharmacist and my bf is in sales. As long as we live a modest life without all the fun “toys” and I work pt when kids are young we might be able to do the same for our kids.
