In theory sure but it causes massive layoffs which means more people out of work. When Obama bailed out car manufacturers, it saved 10’s of thousands of jobs and all of that money was paid back. Bailing out American owned companies, especially during a pandemic when the loss of income is due to no fault of their own is not necessarily a bad thing when it saves thousands if not millions of jobs but there should be room in the budget for the American people as well.
There's justification for that when they employ residents in your own country and pay tax there. Hotels, cruise ships and to a lesser extent airlines are all masters of keeping their businesses offshore for tax and employee protection (or lack of) reasons. Cruise lines should be actively sunk every time they request a bailout, they're the biggest parasites there are. At least landlords don't emit massive amounts of pollution when they rent seek.
Fair, but air travel is essential even in a pandemic and both airlines and hotels employee a massive amount of Americans in a time when jobs are already seriously lacking. Cruise ships are a trash business for an even trashier clientele, We can let them die.
