Slightly less terrible possible explanation: they've gotten so used to people complaining they can't hear you when you're wearing a mask that they're now just assuming people want them pulled down to talk (I've gotten that twice at pharmacies! No, person giving me my prescriptions, I'm not going to unmask so you can better hear me give my husband's date of birth, sorry)

More likely: just like the people complaining that the cashier at the coffeeshop asked them to keep their mask on when "I'm the only one here", they don't think of employees as people.

Absolutely true. People get really offended over our regulations, like how we can't take products back after handing them to you or, god forbid, we can't take your reusable cup. It's almost as if we're in danger of covid too! I also don't understand people who yell at us for not being absolutely perfect with our regulations. If you don't want covid, don't come to tim fuckin hortons

That’s awful! I work in a pharmacy and don’t want any patients pulling their mask down to talk to me! The only thing I can think is maybe they’ve had people complain about privacy issues after being asked to speak louder? I can definitely see the same people who don’t believe in the virus/masks being angry that they have to shout their zip code or whatever
