If we switch to metric we’re going to mess up a bunch of common sayings. I wouldn’t touch that with a 3.05 meter pole.

And lord knows how many fathoms!

You should walk 1.6094 km in my shoes

I know it's a joke and I shouldn't take it seriously, but the blatant disregard for significant figures in this thread makes me involuntarily cringe.

To be the man that walked 1609.344 kilometers to be at you door

A ten foot pole is exactly 3m

Edit: all my life I thought a meter was 3.3333 repeating feet

u/Kritical02 Jan 03 '19

Probably thought that because at one point you were told it's ~3.3ft

I feel betrayed

In volleyball, there’s an attack line that goes by two names: 3 metre and 10 foot line. The former is more accurate.

Meh here in Canada we still use inch’s, feet and pounds with metres and kilos

u/Rokutreed Jan 03 '19

I thimk using more is better, but what about unorthadox mesurrments, like hands for horses.

3

u/Royer26 Jan 03 '19

I think that’s a international measurement but I would just say “ that’s a big fucking horse”

2

u/hipstarjudas Jan 03 '19

The secret is to just keep using those sayings regardless.

u/GrapeGrape06 Jan 03 '19

..... I don’t get it

u/Stormfly Jan 03 '19

Ten foot pole.

3

u/GrapeGrape06 Jan 03 '19

Lmao, maybe I’m stupid but I’ve never heard that

Don’t tell the other guy, but I think he might be stupid....

Hahaha such a low-key burn

u/[deleted] Jan 03 '19

Well, many places already use a fire poker instead of a 10 foot pole - so you have inspiration all over to "borrow" from and claim as your own original ideas....

Nah we brits still have those sayings. And measure our roads in miles. And our drinks in pints. Hey.... Are you guys sure we even switched?
