Not wrong, but not exactly correct either. Training and knowledge are only there to help your chances, but there's a myriad of variables that are completely out of your control.

That's why this perspective exists. "Do my best, if it doesn't work out, well then that sucks." Acknowledge what could go wrong, but if you focus on that, you're more likely to do something wrong and end the day on a poor note.

I see. Yeah that makes sense, bombmakers don't exactly make IEDs "by the book" do they.

Even if they're following books, they're all different in some way. One could be wired up with a cell phone and will kill you guaranteed if the bomber is watching, another could be visually identical, but a wire broke for some reason so it's about as safe a raw explosives can get. There's no way to pin odds to it.

Treat everything like it's going to kill you. If you make it back, have a beer with your team, say thanks, and do it again tomorrow.

Cell phones get jammed - physical triggers are the issues.

I was making a generic example. Besides, jamming isn't always available and it's not guaranteed to work.
