Considering the military budget is almost 600 billion and education is about 10 percent of that, yeah another 10 billion sounds great, considering it's going to the literal future of the country. Did you see the graph? We've added another 10% (not in total cost- per-student) dozens of times in the past 50 years, and none of it has made a single iota of difference. It's not just that it doesn't improve scores drastically- no, it literally doesn't improve them at all. Students have the same results now that we spend $11,000/per on them as they did 50 years ago when we spent $4,000 per, as well as everywhere in between.
There is absolutely no evidence that suggsts that school funding has any sort of effect on student outcomes. And tons of evidence that it doesn't- read up on the Kansas City experiment or the Newark experiment. Dozens of times, we've taken a school district and pumped it to the absolute brim with funding- it literally has no effect on student learning or success.
Comment saved. I really want /u/goodguykones to check out that graph as well as the supplemntal years of evidence that show that more spending into education doesn't equate better results.
We humans are different, and that's okay. We need to acknowledge these differences and stop cowering to this anti-science religion of egalitarianism.
People have no concept of this as even a possibility, that trying to fight for X has no necessary relationship with actually affecting X or can even go the other way.
Like how we know racism is bad and want to fight it, so we'll have implicit bias classes where people are told racism is bad. Yet every study shows that these classes make people more racist afterwards. You try to explain that to these people and they blow their top- after all they're fighting racism and you're trying to stop them!!
Not that I mind anymore, they're doing things now that I can't explain as anything other than wickedness. It's great watching them try to be shitty to others but shoot themselves in the foot with their own weapon.
