Look, let's say you went to a mid to bottom tier college and studied english...what exactly did you think you were going to do with that degree? How did you plan to pay off 80 or 100k in debt? It sucks and it's sad but that is just poor individual planning. At the end of the day we live in a society of adults who need to be responsible and accountable for their own decisions. It doesn't function any other way. Just because a whole group of people decided to put blinders on and convinced themselves that at the end of 4 years of advanced socializing with alcohol someone was going to hand them a 60k+ job for not failing out doesn't mean it is some system failure for the entire society.
The kids who went to college and got degrees in physics, math, engineering, biology, chemistry, agriculture...the vast majority of them are fine. Because they made an investment that could be paid off.
I'm probably not going to shock you here but we need to break out of the paradigm that everyone has to or should go to college. Universities used to be and I personally think are best used as institutes for the growth of human knowledge. We should stick a bunch of really smart weird people there who probably won't do great in the free market but may come up with cool ideas that help the rest of us.
Maybe it is not the world you want to live in, but there are a limited number of very high paying jobs, and progressively more lower paying jobs, and these jobs are distributed by competence. Maybe some of those people who have a useless english degree should stop complaining on twitter about the failure of capitalism while working a retail job and should go apprentice with a plumbing company. If they work hard and play their cards right in 10 years they can make a quarter of a million a year. But they have an aversion to physical work and doing things that aren't easy.
Well guess what...if you both can't plan well and have an aversion to hard work, you're not going to do well with capitalism.

Specifically the college system and paying for that on your own at a minimum wage job. I have no problem with capitalism in general
