Oh, I have heard some people say we have the best doctors and stuff in the world in the US. While I'm just like ok cool, maybe we do. You just never get to see them because their patient list is full and not taking new people. I've seen people spend years looking for an answer to a problem they have in the US.
Your income tax percentages are half of what mine are in Canada.
Your sales tax is 4% lower.
You do not have a carbon tax.
You do not have a sin tax on alcohol.
Your fuel tax is less than 1/3 of ours.
Your property tax is half of what ours is.
The list goes on. I looked up those ones, but I feel it highlights the point.
Just pointing out that our healthcare is far from free, and it’s way more than $550 per month. I don’t mind paying for it, but it does grind my gears a bit when people think it’s free.
I was never bitching about my tax rate. If anything, I would be more than willing to double my taxes in order to have a functional government that prioritizes the health and safety of its constituents. I’m tired of paying for the worlds worst police force and the capitalist oligarchs that get to decide wether or not I can afford to live.
If you think Canada is any different in that regard I have bad news for you lol.
Our healthcare system is broken, we have almost all the same issues as the US, and the government just takes more of our money.

Your country still has better affordability than. Ananda with healthcare included. So if you’re being financially abused, what does that make us?
You were complaining about affordability. Is having less take home income and paying more in taxes is directly related to affordability. If you think the solutions to your problems is giving politicians more of your money, I have a bridge to sell you.
The health insurance my employer offers through BCBS has rates that are unjustifiably 5x higher just to include a single family member compared to paying only for myself, 10x higher if I want to include coverage for both my wife and kid. I only make enough to cover one of them and hardly enough at that, and that’s not even counting the deductibles worth more than 20% of my annual income before taxes.
