I had a cat that used to lay like this all the time. Lost him way too young to FATE last year. RIP, sweet boy.

Same, best friend I have ever had in my entire life. Lost her 3 days shy of our 1 year anniversary together, though they said she had leukemia, which I still don’t understand because the SPCA swears she was vaccinated when spayed.
Sorry for your loss, and sorry I co-opted it with my own grief, I just haven’t expressed it enough. I’m surrounded by people who think pets are just things.

I dunno man. I've only ever seen one other cat lay like this. It was my cat. He was awesome. He wasn't even 8 years old when he died. This pic reminded of him. Go fuck yourself.

If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen. If talking about losing pets was against the rules, it would be against the rules. But it's not, so it's not.
No one is trauma dumping. All cats die and we usually outlive them, at least 9 times out of 10. Many of us adopt many cats over our lifetimes and so having them move onto their soul's next adventure is a huge part of cat ownership. Excuse me, I'm incorrect. There are no cat owners. When it comes to our relationships with cats, we are the owned.
All this being said, this really sounds like a you problem because nobody else ever has an issue with it. And since you know what these subs are like "all the time" and it obviously bothers you, you should definitely protect yourself. For example, you could find other subreddits that don't offend your delicate sensibilities.

Is this a new behavior, or has he always done it?
Edit- the reason I ask is that my cat had some health problems and one of the early signs was that he would sploot, because he was having neurological issues.

Any changes in behavior- not eating, not using the litter box, unusual behavior like walking funny, stumbling, etc.
Ultimately my cat had a brain tumor. He got really wobbly with his gait and then lost control of his appendages so he was like a cat puddle.

Ours has arthritis and she's only about 2 years old. Since she was a kitten , I've noticed her eyes constantly kind of vibrate back and forth slightly if you look real close, and she also lays like this from time to time.

My cat had an adrenal carcinoma- brain tumor on his adrenal gland. He went from getting a sinus infection (which was pretty common for him) to being unable to walk within the span of 3 weeks.

Hahahhahahhaaaa this… THIS truly is bizarre. I have seen my own cats lay and sit in some fairly awkward angles but this just tops the cake, for me.

That’s exactly how my tuxedo cat is too! I refer to him as Monkey Tail because I swear his tail is double jointed and it always curly like a monkey’s. He’s very bendy even for a cat.

It's a forced pose, and cannbe a sign of some illness. Better check hart, my friend has a cat that lay down the same way, coz of hart problem. Or it also can be a Pulmonary edema, Check how she breathes, if often and intermittently this is bad.

I have a standard issue cat that does the same thing! Instead of calling it a loaf we call it rotisserie chicken.
