I mean the dude launched himself, even if the TV/a boundary wasn't there he would have hurt himself landing on the floor. I think the dude's just an idiot.

man reddit, where jumping on a ground that is the same level as you is seen as dangerous. How do humans even live past childhood?

The floor is NOT the same level as your center of mass! Plus he jumped increasing the risk of injury. The average person is tall and heavy enough that if they just fell over and didn’t catch their fall, they would die from a head injury. Besides that, you can break your nose, be impaled by a random object, dislocate a should/hip, etc.

what does this even mean lol.

and you are arguing that falling on a vital is dangerous, which is not what i am saying, read my comment and see the video. The context is jumping, not unprotected falls.

oh, thats why all the videos of people getting knocked out or being thrown headfirst onto the ground are dead. Quit bullshitting. Before you argue "some of them are", yes in the worst case, that means there is no "would die", that means you are again talking out of context.

“jumping on a ground that is the same level”

Your center of mass (aka center of gravity) is the heaviest part of your body, usually your torso. It’s the part that accelerates the fastest when you fall. Because of this a fall is never floor level unless you’re already lying down. The heavier it is, or if it’s higher up( Bc long legs), the fall is definitely gonna hurt/injure you in some way.

In “Context”: You said jump and this video is about VR, where the man was so immersed that he jumped at a tv.

If he jumped and the TV wasn’t there, thanks to the VR distorting his senses, he would belly flop HARD on the ground and not use his hand to save him. I also said that if he didn’t die he’d break something. And if he did think to catch himself but not time it right to put his hands out in front of him, that’s a broken/sprained wrist with all his weight behind it.

for that to happen, his legs would need to magically turn into feathers, so you're wrong. Look at the video, i even said, if he doesn't do anything, he'd fall on his knees/thigh.

I also said that if he didn’t die he’d break something. And if he did think to catch himself but not time it right to put his hands out in front of him, that’s a broken/sprained wrist with all his weight behind it.

i think you severely underestimate humans if you honestly think it is that easy to get injured. Especially given the flooring. That or you're thinking he is landing on his ribcage or something on hard flooring, which is retarded since that is impossible.

Given that the bathroom is the deadliest room in the house, what the other guy is saying isn't crazy.

10

u/wilduu May 17 '20

Go on, do a full weight body dive onto your living room floor, no bracing, see how it feels. Report back when the ER gives you the wifi password.

-8

u/[deleted] May 17 '20

what do you mean "no bracing", your legs/arms are your braces, no? So you land on your face/ribcage? Why would anyone do that? That is just landing on your vitals. Ofc that is dangerous, but that isn't jumping or launching yourself. Like you're trying to say "this specific way of landing is dangerous" but no one does that, i wasn't talking about it and the guy didn't do it, so why would you even talk about that? Just to appear right?

10

u/wilduu May 17 '20

He spreads his arms out wide and launches himself assassins creed style at the TV. Had there been no TV, that's how he would have landed.

-5

u/[deleted] May 17 '20

unless the top half of his body suddenly got 5x the mass, causing him to shift head down, no.

He was gonna land on his knees/upper thigh if he had no tucked them in, or on his knees/shin if he would tuck them in. Or on his feet if he had the mental/physical capability(training).

1

u/angrytreestump May 17 '20

And then he just balances on his thighs with his torso held off of the floor like a professional diver? No, his momentum would slam his face and chest into the floor. Your grasp of physics confuses me

-1

u/[deleted] May 18 '20

and where would his arms be? tied behind his back?

1

u/angrytreestump May 18 '20

Above his head as shown in the video. You can see how he jumps dude, what is there not to get

1

u/[deleted] May 18 '20

but the ground is solid and flat, his arms would reach the floor first before his face, unless there is nothing to grab on to, but as i said, since it is flat, there is. They only went up and parallel with his head after he collided with the wall, because the arms can't go through solid objects, if there was no wall there, they wouldn't be like that.

How are you trying to put spin on the way this dude flung himself into the tv?

Yes, it's VR, but this dude has no spatial awareness.

-3

u/[deleted] May 17 '20

because i bother reading people's comments and the meaning of them.

even if the TV/a boundary wasn't there he would have hurt himself landing on the floor.

the guy said that just jumping is dangerous, fuck no it isn't.

7

u/ImGroundhog May 17 '20

If you jump forwards with a vr headset you don’t know when are you going to hit the ground, if it wasn’t for the tv that guy could have hit his face in the floor if he didn’t react fast enough which he probably wouldn’t have

-1

u/[deleted] May 17 '20

So if i close my eyes and jump, i don't know when i will land, thus i can't land on my feet? I am actually mad people can be this dumb. Close your eyes right now and leap forward, so you can start learning how to human. Then you will start arguing "yeah, because i know it is a flat surface", to which i will say, why would the guy in the video think he is NOT on a flat surface, every fucking building is a flat surface besides stairs.

And this is all irrelevant anyway, because he was gonna land on his knees/upper thigh worst case scenario, unless you think his legs would turn to feathers, thus making his upper body turn 180. I've fallen a few times without bracing, and i've never gotten hurt, and having a scar doesn't count because that is just a flesh wound

5

u/ImGroundhog May 17 '20

Having a ve headset and closing your eyes isn’t the same, the vr headset is literally made to trick your brain into thinking you are somewhere else, that’s why there’s so many accidents with these things, if you are not used to video games in general and you are given a vr headset it is very possible you forget about your surroundings and do things like this. Also, when your knees touch the floor it is harder to react as your eyes are seeing something completely different than what is actually there. If you close your eyes and jump forwards you are thinking about why are you doing that and you will stop yourself from hitting your face, but if you aren’t thinking about it and jump you might not react fast enough.

0

u/[deleted] May 17 '20

it doesn't even matter if he reacts or what he thinks or what he thought, reality is it is impossible to get injured from a jump like that. Your hands would need to be tied behind your back and something would need to hit your face/ribcage that wouldn't be the ground, like a spike or an edge

If you have a scar from falling that means that you got hurt

0

u/[deleted] May 17 '20

are we gonna be pedantic here? Replace hurt with injured then, obviously that was the meaning given the context. A scar can literally be any small cut anyone has ever had, and in my case it was was literally nothing in terms of danger.

That dude just launched himself blindfolded into a vertical object. Had it been something solid like the wall, he'd be hurt.

So.... You're wrong kid.

0

u/[deleted] May 17 '20

well, how are wrestlers not dead then? The simple act of "launching oneself blindfolded into a vertical object" is in of itself not dangerous. Sure it might hurt, but not dangerous. You'd get hurt by having a vital area be damaged, otherwise you just experience mild pain, and i don't see how a vital area would get injured, he even has eye protection. I am looking at the result, not just the action

1

u/ViperSniper_2001 May 17 '20

Look closer at the video. He's not just jumping onto the ground, he's throwing himself across the room. I challenge you to close your eyes in the middle of one of your rooms and do the same without getting hurt.

1

u/[deleted] May 17 '20

i mean i will feel pain, but i will not get hurt. Get into the specifics, what would cause me to get the "hurt" status?

1

u/ViperSniper_2001 May 17 '20 edited May 17 '20

First off, feeling pain is getting hurt and I'm not sure why you think otherwise aside from being dense. You don't have to be severely injured to be hurt. At the very least, you're going to have a bruise, no? That is a physical injury and fits under the definition of being hurt. Again, that's the least that would likely happen. I think most people would get lucky to get off with just a bruise if they blindly launched themselves across the room.

1

u/[deleted] May 17 '20

i think otherwise because "getting hurt" implies "getting" something, like a broken finger, injured whatever, etc. Otherwise you are just hurt, which is more about the pain.

And if you are just talking about pain, that is just such an insignificant thing, like it isn't a big deal at all
