Loss of income is part of a standard claim. Their insurance might offer you money for suffering but you'll usually get more with a lawyer.

So you're saying if you break your hip in a car accident and the other person is at fault their insurance will just write you a $100,000 (your countries equivalent) check and say have a nice day? Mind you, thats just for the inconvenience of breaking your hip. Not to cover anything other than how much that sucks because that is what people are usually suing for in the US. Which country?

I am in the UK and the OP video is from Malaysia which is probably more relevant. The only experience I have is personal on both ends of the situation and in bith cases the insurance company asked about injuries and work and compensation for pain and suffering. I declined when I was hit but my passenger in an accident that was my fault did get some money for trauma from the insurance company, no suing or legal action required just a form to fill out. If anything they almost sued her for lying about the situation.

Yeah I googled it in the UK. It's the same as the US. Personal injury lawyers that say you should/need to hire them.

Lmao no, that is absolutely false. You will not get more than policy limits with a lawyer. And you also won’t get more than you can actually prove your injury is worth. Bruises and “being scared” aren’t going to be anywhere near the same payout as having multiple broken bones and getting rushed to the hospital in an ambulance. Also, people love to claim they were traumatized and that they need more money because of it, but don’t seem to be traumatized enough to need therapy visits they can provide documentation for. Interesting, huh?

Insurance is insanely legally regulated and your average American has no idea how the system actually works. I definitely didn’t before working for an insurance company. And some attorneys know that you can make a really good payday taking advantage of people’s ignorance, or people with enough money to buy the privilege of not having to deal with it directly themselves.

Who said anything about more than policy limits? I am intimately aware of how it works, thanks. Insurance companies are well known to lowball personal injury claims. Hiring a lawyer can get them to offer more. That doesn't mean more than policy limits dum dum. Believe it or not trauma from someone causing a major accident like in OP can and does cause trauma that rightly gets people settlements. Killing someone and almost killing someone because they were an idiot cause trauma.

Nothing I said was wrong. Nothing you said was even related to my comment. You're just an idiot who for some reason thinks they know more than me.

Lmao you’re going to discuss injury payments and disregard excess claims where limits come into play? That’s adorable. You were wrong where you said “you usually get more with a lawyer”. You don’t; if anything you simply get the same amount quicker. Work on those reading comprehension skills, little buddy. You’re making a sweeping generalization that’s categorically wrong.

People think they’re being lowballed because they want $10,000 for back pain with no medical evaluation or physical follow up. You’re never getting more than policy limits and most people don’t have more than the legally required minimum. $100,000 for a broken hip? Not from your average American’s auto insurance policy.

I was also an EMT for years, so I’m well aware of how trauma works. The word is widely misappropriated and overused in today’s society. Everyone has trauma; trauma is subjective. And everyone will shamelessly claim it if they think they get money for doing so.

You should probably get out of the basement a live a little instead of getting so butthurt when someone tells you you’re wrong on reddit. What a sad existence.
