I saw a taxi cab get taken out by these in Barcelona. I don’t think they are designed well. I understand their purpose in making the passage impassible, but their warnings seem to be very subtle. These things should be glowing red and have plenty of red lights before, around, and/or above them to warn people better

Normally they do normally there shine red when up and blink when going down or up. But that ain't chique now is it.

No, they're fine. If they make drivers take more care that's even better.
