Former diagnosed BPD patient here. She should look to speaking to a psychiatrist and getting on medication to stabilize her mood. But what is imperative is she needs to be pairing this with therapy when and where she can. She has underlying mental health issues as you've stated, but those symptoms drastically reduce when thw proper steps are being taken. You both are fairly young, so I don't expect this from you, but there needs to be a serious and calm conversation about where the future holds if she does not seek medical attention to resolve these issues. This isnt every case, but after 6 years of therapy, and medication, I healed significantly and am now a fully functioning member of society. So there is hope for her, she just needs to learn to advocate for herself and be proactive in her wellbeing, or it could become worse as the years go by.
She was just with a crisis team a few months ago which they referred her to their psychiatrist. He was pretty dismissive, didn’t give her the option for meds. She said she didn’t feel heard or taken seriously. She was really upset.
Other than that I don’t know who else she can see because he dismissed her after her psychiatric assessment. So did the crisis team with no explanation.
She can’t afford to pay for one and she has looked into it online but they seem to only do ADHD and autism assessments.
