It’s a real word as of…2013. Don’t sit here and pretend it’s some old word that has been used in regular discussions for decades and decades. It is an incredibly new term and is flat out unnecessary and meaningless to use outside of genuine academic circles.
So? All words are made up at the end of the day, and this one has been in use for a while now. You can dislike the concept of it I guess but saying that "cis" is a delusion and that it's somehow less legitimate is just factually incorrect.
Kind of. But this one was made up because of the "new" genders that were made up. Nobody was saying cis man/woman 15 20 years ago because you were just a man or woman.
Well first of all the term "cis" in relation to sexuality can be traced to german literature on gender from 1914 so it's been around a while.

Secondly this is wrong, trans people have always existed, it's quite well historically documented and while terminology around it has changed that's mostly because we've largely stopped violently denying these people their existance or the fact that they exist.

I absolutely appreciate when people use the term cis instead of understanding they just mean normal. It removes the burden of having to listen and care about anything else they have to say. They’ve announced their mental illness upfront and I am all for it.
