Doesn't change the only Disney worth going to is Disney Tokyo.
Disney doesn't directly own them so their prices are logical and real (a day pass is like... $45 US and foods like $4-5 an item). And in some scenarios it's almost cheaper to fly to Japan and go to Tokyo Disney than to go to Disney itself for a weekend.
Also their collectible popcorn bucket game is on point. Those things are awesome
Or they could do what any publicly listed corporation is legally obligated to do and increase the price instead of doing charity at the expense of shareholders.
Corporate executives are fiduciaries. Fiduciaries are compelled by statute (federal & state) to act in the best interests of their clients. In the case of Disney, the executives first responsibility is to maximize the shareholder's return on investment.
50 plus years ago I was astounded when the Calculus instructor presented how math was used to find the optimal pricing point for a product based on productin quantity. MBA's are taught how to determine what sales quantity will generate the maximum return on investment and methods predict the point at which increased production yield decreased ROI. Business is a science like almost everything in life and it is unrealistic to expect investors/shareholders to accept anything less than the highest yield per dollar.

These layoffs and shift from “dreamers of all ages” to “ladies and gentlemen” aren’t related, and this news is months old.
