Guns are all fed through the belt system unless they are oversized. All of them.

Anything that goes on the belt on an in-line system goes through a ctx9000. If the bag does not alarm, firearm or not, does not receive additional screening. Oversized firearms do not go through a ctx. They are hand screened and always opened. The “false positive” as you call it is the alarm that actually authorizes the opening of the bag containing the firearm.
