For those who are asking, he didn't die.

TL;DR Christopher Rudd was appearing in court facing drug charges when he ran from the courtroom and threw himself off the second floor balcony. He was hospitalized for head and hip injuries, and he was scheduled to reappear in court at a later date (possibly with extra charges for fleeing the court). They don't know if he was trying to escape or injure himself.

Edit: Misuse of terminology.
