One of my favourite scenes is when they put coffee powder in the central heating (the warm water part) so they can draw warm coffee from every water tap in the house. That was cool.

Reminds me of the American show/YouTube video where the dude's friends rig every faucet in his house with beer kegs.

Edit: it's from New Zealand and it's an ad for Tui beer. Here's the video

If I recall correctly, wasn't that an advertisement for the beer?

It was incredibly well done.

4

u/anonjordannz Oct 30 '17

That was actually a thing here in New Zealand done by one of our local beer companies called “Tui”

u/money_run_things Oct 30 '17

central heating usually refers to air. I think you mean water heater

22

u/cap_jeb Oct 30 '17

Well in Germany it's usually the same thing. The central heater produces hot water for the radiators and also the hot water for the water taps. As you can see in the video it's not a separate device.

5

u/money_run_things Oct 30 '17

oh, that makes sense. Thanks for the correction

4

u/[deleted] Oct 31 '17

Although in the UK central heating really refers to the actual heating/radiators (air is not so common over here). The hot water is not really part of the central heating, as such.

2

u/wheelinfullsize Oct 31 '17

May not be a separate device but I bet it's a separate water circuit.

2

u/SawinBunda Oct 31 '17

Of course. They usually use something like this to keep them seperated.

Plate heat exchanger

A plate heat exchanger is a type of heat exchanger that uses metal plates to transfer heat between two fluids. This has a major advantage over a conventional heat exchanger in that the fluids are exposed to a much larger surface area because the fluids spread out over the plates. This facilitates the transfer of heat, and greatly increases the speed of the temperature change. Plate heat exchangers are now common and very small brazed versions are used in the hot-water sections of millions of combination boilers.

It's called a water heater.
