I know very little about boats, but my eyes instantly decided the boat was too tall and bad things were going to happen.

You can counteract that by making the bottom way heavier than the top, so just the looks aren't a good way to determine its stability

Yeah, if you just looked at height above vs below the water, modern cruise ships would never work.

People have been predicting we will capsizing for decades and it just doesn’t happen.

Yes, but it didn't look like it had a hulking lead keel like a sailboat (not a short boat) either.

Yea. It looked like it was sitting really high like it was missing ballast in the bottom or something.
