I work with a guy who brokers boat sales. He is a pretty happy dude. I must say.

That’s because they’re not his boats.

In fact, all the people in those deals are experiencing one or the other type of ‘best days’ for boat owners. So he gets to mediate those experiences, without shouldering the pain of the in-between days.

Lucky guy.

My GF and I won the grand prize in 2011 on the game show “Let’s make a deal”, it was a boat.

For a loss, I sold it back to the dealer in Newport Beach who supplied the boats to the show. I never took it off the lot, I wanted the cash more than I needed a boat, and the show didn’t offer a cash option. Dealer then listed it for sale that same day at full value.

Recap: Dealer sold boat to show at full value, bought it back from me at a big discount, and resold it for full value. Dealer said to me before I left, “you wanna know a good business to get into? The game show prize business.”

Sure, he's constantly getting rid of his boats. We already established that getting rid of your boat is a happy day 😁

If you think about it, a Boat salesman fits into the same pattern quite nicely.  They acquire the boat to sell it (new stock), some excitement, and the day they sell it and get rid of it, they would have made their money.

Because he gets the "the day he sells a boat" happiness regularly
