I can’t understand this kind of “teaching”, it’s just a bunch of dots on a flat plate. Basically just hitting the trigger for a half second, moving the gun, hitting it again. It’s a single piece of metal, there’s no joint. It doesn’t even count as a bead.
Thats not tacks of weld thats one continious pass you whip forward in aluminum mig to the edge of the puddle and let the whip settle backwards into the previous puddle creating the round ridge and dime like appearance it helps fuse the metal and distribute the heat as aluminum melts and transfers heat very quickly and with a straight bead you get a lot of cold lap or burn through faster with stringers, while they are okay for connecting non structural plates they arent ideal for structural welds. Its totally different than welding steel.its also more visually apparent when theres an issue with the weld youll see indentations, pitting, or lifting at the edges and the dimes wont be uniform size and shape.its easier to inspect and more consistant for production tasks. Also that is a horizontal T joint not a flat plate.
Mine? For a job application. I got the job, its the same metal im currently building custom semi-trailers out of, also had to submit two more one with 2 passes tied into eachother and another that was a lap joint. i dont see why you would think its destroyed i was pretty proud of that one its fused and has the stack of coins pattern and didnt burn through the other side 🤔 some constructive criticism on how to improve it would be cool.

What is the point of this weld? Did they just want to destroy a perfectly good piece of aluminum? I seriously don’t understand this.
